Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz will reportedly make his highly anticipated return to the octagon this March at UFC 235 in Las Vegas.

According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the former UFC welterweight title challenger, Diaz, will take on perennial contender Jorge Masvidal at the pay-per-view event on March 2.

The potential booking would mark the first time in over fours years that fight fans would get to see Nick Diaz in action.

The native of Stockton, California was last seen in action at UFC 183, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.

That result was later changed to a no-contest, this after it was revealed that “The Spider” had popped for performance enhancing substances while Nick Diaz was flagged for weed.

Due to his long layoff, and the fact that he hasn’t won a fight since defeating BJ Penn via decision in 2011, Nick Diaz is currently listed as the betting underdog for his UFC 235 fight with Masvidal.

That’s according to BetOnline, who currently have Nick Diaz pegged as a +135 underdog. Meanwhile, “Gamebred” is listed as the -155 betting favorite.

With that said, Jorge Masvidal will be looking to rebound from a two-fight losing skid when he squares off with Nick Diaz on March 2 in Las Vegas.

Masvidal is coming off decision losses to former welterweight title challengers Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson in his most recent efforts.

Prior to the setbacks, Jorge has strung together three-straight victories which included stoppage wins over Jake Ellenberger and Donald Cerrone.
