Michael Bisping has a suggestion for Conor McGregor

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has offered up an interesting idea as to who Conor McGregor should call out next.

Michael Bisping, Conor McGregor

The Irishman appears to be on the outside looking in as the promotions continues to book key lightweight matchups that do not include the ‘Notorious’.

Conor’s bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov is expected to face Dustin Poirier in a title unification bout at September’s UFC 242 event in Abu Dhabi. However, no official announcement has been made by the UFC as of this time.

Meanwhile, perennial lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Donald Cerrone are set to square off at next month’s UFC 238 event in Chicago, with the winner expected to be granted the next lightweight title shot.

With that being said, there are not a ton of options for Conor McGregor left at lightweight. Aside from a potential slugfest with Justin Gaethje, the Irishman’s options appear very limited at 155-pounds.

Even a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz would have to wait, as ‘The Stockton Slugger’ is set to square off with Anthony Pettis in a welterweight bout this August at UFC 241 in California.

During his most recent episode of the “Believe You Me” podcast, co-host Luis Gomez told Michael Bisping that he would like to see Conor McGregor fight Nick Diaz next. While ‘The Count’ is onboard with the idea, he isn’t exactly sold that the eldest Diaz brother can be persuaded to come back.

Nick Diaz Conor McGregor

“That’s not bad. If I’m Conor, yeah call out Nick Diaz. Say listen, ‘I’ve already beat your brother, so come on big brother. Let’s go.’ I don’t think Nick Diaz is gonna take that fight though. I don’t know, well you probably do follow Nick Diaz on Instagram. My god, he’s having a whale of a time in Las Vegas, that guy. All he ever does is [party] at nightclubs, he’s hammered, he’s having a great time, he’s surrounded by pretty young girls. Why would he want to get back into the Octagon and fight?” Bisping questioned (transcript via MMANews). “It’s a shame because the guy has real talent, but as I say you only get one life and he’s having a real f*cking good one by the looks of it.”

Conor McGregor is reportedly in negotiations with the UFC in hopes of finalizing a new deal. According to the report, ‘Mystic Mac‘ is eyeing a late summer or early fall return to the octagon.
