Joe Rogan explains why Nate Diaz is such a big star

In the opinion of UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, Nate Diaz is one of the biggest stars in the UFC — perhaps almost as big a star as Conor McGregor.

Rogan gave his take on the star power of the younger Diaz brother on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show, discussing the topic with American Top Team coach Din Thomas.

“One of the reasons why Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor was so big is because people love Nate Diaz too,” Rogan explained. “It’s not just Conor McGregor. No disrespect to Eddie Alvarez, but when Conor McGregor fought Eddie Alvarez, the vast majority of the eyes were on Conor McGregor. When Conor McGregor fights Nate Diaz, you’re looking at a lot of people who love Nate Diaz.”

Din Thomas then asked Joe Rogan why he thinks Diaz is such a popular fighter. Rogan believes people are simply captivated by the attitudes of both Diaz brothers.

“Cause he doesn’t give a f**k,” Rogan said. “He legitimately doesn’t give a f**k. He smokes weed all the time. People love it. They love the fact that those guys are like that.”

While Rogan considers the Diaz brothers to be massive stars, he doesn’t believe the UFC really fathoms just how valuable the two fighters are — perhaps part of the reason we haven’t seen either brother in the cage for so long.

“I think those guys are superstars, I think the UFC doesn’t know,” he said.
