Jimi Manuwa is still on the mend but has a clear idea of when we’ll likely see him compete next.

The light heavyweight has been sidelined for the last few months with a groin injury but is targeting a return on the UFC on ESPN+10 card in Sweden, which takes place on June 1.

“We’re getting there, getting fit” Manuwa told MMA Junkie. “I think I’m aiming for the June card in Sweden.”

Jimi Manuwa (17-5) is currently in the toughest stretch of his career suffering three-straight losses, including a TKO setback to Thiago Santos at UFC 231 in December. The 39-year-old knows the division is moving along quickly but is welcoming all challengers who come on his radar

“There’s loads of new contenders in light heavyweight, so I’m good to go,” he said. “That’s what happens. There’s always new fighters coming through. It’s great for the sport. With the light heavyweights, I think with the top-10, top-15, anyone can beat anyone”

One of those contenders includes rising Brazilian star Johnny Walker, who has finished his first three UFC opponents, most recently Misha Cirkunov who he stopped with a flying knee and punches at UFC 235 earlier this month. The 26-year-old is currently riding a nine-fight win streak and has yet to get out of the first round in his UFC career.

“Poster Boy” made his UFC debut in Aug. 2013 and won four of his first five fights with his lone setback coming against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC Fight Night 37. Since then, Manuwa has gone 2-4 in his last six fights and despite the rough stretch, the London native does hold impressive KO wins over contenders like Corey Anderson and Ovince Saint Preux.

UFC on ESPN+ 10 takes place at Ericsson Globe Arena in : Stockholm, Sweden on June 1. The main event pits the last two men to face light heavyweight champion Jon Jones against each other, as Alexander Gustafsson takes on Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith.
