EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington explains why he deserves title shot before Rafael Dos Anjos

By Tom Taylor - February 5, 2018

At present, there are two clear frontrunners in the race to the next shot at UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley. One is surging contender Colby Covington. The other is former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Speaking on the latest episode of BJ Penn Radio, Colby Covington explained why he, not Rafael dos Anjos, deserves the next crack at Tyron Woodley.

“I’m the top of the division,” Covington said firmly. “I guess they’d consider this RDA chump at the top of the division, too, which is a joke. He’s a lightweight. He was getting knocked out by lightweights last year.”

“I’m waiting to see what happens with Tyron, because I’m next in line,” Covington continued. “There’s only two contenders in the top of the division. It’s me and RDA. So I’m going to wait to see what happens. I don’t think they should make the RDA fight. I mean, that’s going to be boring. Who wants to see that? Tyron Woodley, […] he’s already had the record for least amount of strikes ever thrown in a fight. Now he’s going to get the record for least amount of pay-per-view buys if they do him versus RDA. Who wants to see that? No one wants to see that. Two good guys [who say] ‘oh, I’ll fight whoever.’ No, you want to see drama, you want to see promotion, you want to see actually real entertainment, not just a fight, but the lead-up to the fight. Then you need to put Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington versus Tyron ‘The Chosen Bitch’ Woodley for the undisputed welterweight title.”

Do you think Colby Covington should get the next crack at UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, or should that honor go to Rafael dos Anjos? Make your opinion heard in the comments section!
