Bellator honors troops with second event in Hawaii featuring Primus-Chandler rematch, return of Frank Mir

By Tom Taylor - October 11, 2018

On December 15, Bellator will touch down in Honolulu, Hawaii with Bellator 211. The card will be headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between Hawaiian champ Ilima-Lei MacFarlane, and co-headlined by a middleweight scrap between former UFC champ Lyoto Machida and former Bellator champ Rafael Carvalho.

Michael Chandler, Brent Primus, Bellator

Amazingly, this stacked card is not all that Bellator is offering the fans in Hawaii, who have been waiting years for major MMA show. The night before this card, in the very same Honolulu venue, the promotion will honor the military with a card titled ‘Salute the Troops,’ which will be free for members of the US armed forces and their friends and families.

This Salute the Troops card will be headlined by a long-awaited rematch between reigning Bellator lightweight champion Brent Primus, and the man he defeated to win the title, Michael Chandler. The card will also feature the return of former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir, who will battle all-action heavyweight Javy Ayala.

All of this exciting news comes via MMAjunkie.

Primus and Chandler first met in June of 2017. On that night, Primus won after Chandler sustained a leg injury in the first round. Since then, Chandler has fought twice, smashing Goiti Yamauchi and Brandon Girtz. Primus, meanwhile, has not competed since. The pair have been eager for a do-over ever since their first fight.

Frank Mir debuted in the Bellator cage earlier this year, when he was knocked out by fellow legend Fedor Emelianenko in the first round of the promotion’s exciting Heavyweight Grand Prix. Ayala, meanwhile, last fought in May, when he was knocked out by Cheick Kongo.

Needless to say, Bellator is spoiling fans in Hawaii with this epic double-header. The card will air on the Paramount Network and stream on DAZN. Will you be watching?
