Yves Edwards vs. Piotr Hallmann Pushed From UFC 173 To UFC Fight Night 43
With UFC 173 becoming quite crowded with fights, UFC officials announced today that the lightweight matchup between Edwards and Hallmann has been removed from UFC 173, and stuck into UFC Fight Night 43 – a difference of 14 days.
Edwards was once the crème of the crop, in the UFC’s lightweight division; a champion with no championship belt to call his own. Now? The 37-year-old, 17-year veteran is no longer the king without a crown, but rather, a soldier who’s just trying to stay enlisted. Edwards is currently riding a 4-5 record (and 0-3 in his last 3 fights, although one was overturned due to his opponent testing positive for a banned substance), and he desperately needs to pick up a win in order to get back on track.
Hallmann will also be attempting to get back on his own track, as he found himself on the wrong side of a decision loss to Al Iaquinta in his last outing. Prior to that, however, the 26-year-old was riding a 10 fight winning streak, including a submission win over Francisco Trinaldo, which marked his UFC debut.
Here’s how UFC Fight Night 43 is shaping up:
•Benson Henderson vs. Rustam Khabilov
•Ross Pearson vs. Diego Sanchez
•Lance Benoist vs. Bobby Voelker
•John Dodson vs. John Moraga
•Yaotzin Meza vs. Sergio Pettis
•Yves Edwards vs. Piotr Hallmann
