WSOF 3 Scores $106, 573 Live Gate, Sells 1, 107 Tickets, Comps 1, 394 More
| The NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) today released the gate and attendance figures for the WSOF 3: “Fitch vs. Burkman” event, which took place last Friday night (June 14, 2013) at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The NSAC released that the final live attendance of the show was 2,501. The Commission also released the ticket sales numbers, which saw the WSOF company sell 1,107 tickets. That means that the promotion gave away 1,394 complimentary tickets. all of that added up to a live gate of $106,573.
The numbers may seem low, but remember that the promotion is still in the infant stages of its existence. With only the the third event under its belt the company should still be optimistic, although the new addition and headliner of the event, Jon Fitch, didn’t help draw a bigger crowd.
If we’re viewing the cup as half full here we can see that the WSOF comped way less tickets for this show than it did it’s last event, which featured a main event between Andrei Arlovski vs. Devin Cole. That event saw 5,575 fans in attendance after selling 1,499 tickets and giving away 4,076 more in New Jersey.
The event featured many good bouts including a spectacular 1st round submission upset as Josh Burkman choked out Jon Fitch in the main event of the evening.
WSOF 4 is expected to be held at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, on August 10, 2013 live on NBC Sports. The event is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight scrap between Tyrone Spong vs. Angel DeAnda.
