World Series of Fighting Announces 3rd Night of Fights
The World Series of Fighting has announced its third event for June 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The organization has announced four fights that are slated to air live on NBC Sports Network that Friday night, with an additional number of preliminary fights which will presumably stream online.
WSOF 3 will be headlined by former UFC top-welterweight Jon Fitch as he faces another former UFC fighter in Josh Burkman. The fight will be the second time these two fighters have faced each other, the first ending with a second round submission victory for Fitch. Fitch (24-5) went on to rise to the top of the 170-lbs. division and remain there for a considerable time. Burkman (25-9) is riding a four-fight win streak, the latest being a first round TKO of Aaron Simpson at WSOF 2 last month.
The co-main event will feature kickboxing star Tyrone Spong taking on his second MMA opponent in heavy-hitting Angel DeAnda. Spong (1-0 MMA) is well-known for his work in K-1 and Glory World Series, accumulating 77 kickboxing fights. Angel DeAnda boasts an 11-2 record, with ten of his wins coming from (T)KO.
The televised main card will feature a heavyweight fight between Rolles Gracie (8-1) and Dave Huckaba (21-4) and a lightweight fight between Justin Gaethje (8-0) and Brian Cobb (20-7).
The preliminary card, to which WSOF has announced they will add more fights, has slated two lightweight fights with John Gunderson (34-14) facing Dan Lauzon (16-4) and Krasimir Mladenov (8-0) facing Kendrick Miree (5-0).
WSOF 3 will air live on NBC Sports Network June 14 beginning at 8pm PT.
