Dana White Warns Fighters of Team Greg Jackson | It's Not A Family It's A business

By Johanne Mitchell:
UFC President, Dana White slams Greg Jackson in another statement painted in “expletives”. Dana warns fighters not to fall for the warm and fuzzies of family talk by Greg Jackson and at the end of the day Greg is a businessman.

In an interview with Cagewriter, Dana uses the situation between former team mates Rashad Evans and UFC light heavyweight Champ Jon Jones, saying Greg Jackson told Rashad fighting team mates would never happen, they’re family.

“There is one thing that is an absolute fact, and no matter how often Greg Jackson pumps that family [expletive], Greg Jackson is a [expletive] businessman,” White told Cagewriter.  “The more top guys he brings in, the more money he makes. There’s nothing wrong with Greg Jackson, but he’s a [expletive] businessman.  Some of these fighters, who ought to know better but don’t listen to that [expletive] and don’t take it for the crock of [expletive] that it is.  These guys need to make the decision where they train based on where they think they’ll get the best work and develop the best, and not on this [expletive] crazy idea that you’re becoming a part of a family.

“Greg Jackson [expletive] told Rashad this wouldn’t happen, that they’re family and all that other [expletive], but look what is going on now.  Look and see who is at Jackson’s and who is not.  Train where you think it’s going to be best for you and if that’s Jackson’s, that’s fine.  Just don’t buy into this family [expletive] because there’s nothing to it.  This is the fight business, not the friend business.”

We have seen MMA camps produce great fighters thus making coaches famous and sought after, but none as sought after as Jackson’s MMA Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Jackson Camp current title holders include:

Tom Watson BAMMA Middleweight Champion

Georges St-Pierre UFC Welterweight Champion

Carlos Condit Interim UFC Welterweight Champion

Jon Jones UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion

    • boyheadkick says:

thats because cesar gracie considers his team as his pupils, not some fighters that he can make money off of

    • Sweet game plan says:

OH Yes!!! That’s why Nate said he wouldn’t want to fight Frankie cause Frankie was part of the

  11. DMAC says:

I hate to side with this man but he’s right. Greg juices you with bullshit then corners your former teammate against you. Family my ass, he’s all about the doe which I can’t hate on but it’s crazy the lies people sale for $.

  12. defcon says:

    Real talk.

  13. uncle dana, all about the $

  14. slacker says:

How would Dana know? He is not there. It benefits him to say this, then it’s less likely he will have fighters refusing to fight each other. Seems pretty opportunistic. Divide and conquer.

  15. libby says:

Fuck is a great word. far from childish.
So those who hate for it
    FU-Q!!!!!

  19. Din mamma är begagnad says:

Greg dont even care about rashad nowdays family My ASS Greg!

  20. Jaedr says:

What ever happened to the idea that it was a great honor to compete against another highly regarded fighter? This “friend” talk is so stupid! Don’t you want to know who is best? I would be insulted if a friend refused to fight me.

  21. effyocouch says:

The sad part is that a lot of coaches are like that. They treat their students like they’re family, and then look the other way when it comes to the business side of things.

I just left a school because I was having money issues, and I told the owner that I would be back as soon as I resolved them. He then texted me saying “I was on your facebook and you’ve been going out a lot, so stop going out and spending all your money andkeep training making this your priority” to which I replied “I haven’t been spending any money when I go out because I’ve been putting it all into this school and can’t even afford to fill up my gas tank now.” Every other coach I have has been more than willing to work with me and my current low budget (I am employed fortunately, just not getting many hours and can’t find much else), but he is the only one who decided instead to act like my father and wasn’t willing to work something out, showing his true colors that his students aren’t his family, they’re just business that he’d be more than happy to screw over, and this was proved when he charged my card from the auto payment a month later because he “forgot” to take me off of it. I’m not gonna say any names because I’m still friends with a lot of people that go there, but what I will say is you really do have to watch out for who you train with and put your trust into, because a lot of them are phonies that are willing to leave you on the street the second you fall a dollar short of what they want. /rant.

    • Justin the great says:

He probably saw potential in you and saw you could afford to drink and were choosing that over training. You are right, he treated it like a business, but it’s his lively hood. It is his business. If he cut you a break you probably would have spent the money you saved on partying. I don’t blame him at all

  22. johnnyBgood says:

Dana is spot on… and that is why Condit is a pimp, cause Condit is a part of this “family” and still wants to fight the best and the best happens to be apart of this same “family” he doesnt care… he’s in this business to make money and be the best, not be second best to someone in his “family” haha… that’s what irritated me about Kurt Pelligrino and Hermes Franca…Pelligrino sat bitch and was proud to sit there when Franca was goin to fight Sherk… jeez, idiots these days…

  23. the smurf says:

you became a fighter to fight. The only real family you have is your blood . Blood is thicker than water quit stalling and just scrap!

  24. SteinerRecliner says:

guys out of college or highschool want to be apart of a team again its only natural. Greg prays on that shit he doesn’t see students he sees $$$ signs and teaches them to wins fights by decisions

  25. Dano the clown says:

As a trainer for years you mist appreciate how you need to build a sense of unity to help control the emotional elements that fighters deal with. I know Greg Jackson and he is a wonderful man who has done wonders for so many fighters. You want to build and develop every fighter who walks through your doors but at the end of the day you do committ yourself, time, talents and energies to those that demonstrate the most potential. Greg Jackson is human and has learned many lessons about this growing sport just like his fighters and some of you pethic fans with your out of context comments which prove that you know very little about so much.

    Evans will beat Jone’s. FACT!

  26. Train the trainer says:

Evans will beat Jone’s. I know this for a fact!

  27. slacker says:

Dana is being a bit dishonest. Jackson talks more about being a team than being a family in his interviews as I recall. From what I can see, all the camps (Jackson, AKA, Gracie, Wolfslair etc…) are pretty good at supporting each other. They show up to each others’ fights, they speak well of one another in interviews, they will corner their teammate. It’s a matter of having pre – established protocols. Jackson never had one in place for Rashad and Jones – he screwed up, plain and simple. But that doesn’t suddenly turn him into some Donald Trump, money – hungry, capitalist pig. Dana has his own businessman motives in saying this.

  28. evan says:

once again dana white has no clue what he is talking about! If hes spent some time training in a camp then mabye hed understand the type of freindship u creat with these ppl. you share blood sweat and tears with these ppl they are the ppl who push u to achive your potential. I would never fight anyone i train with on a daily basis the amount of time you spend with these ppl they do become family. If you do fight a training partenr u hav to think you are potentialy destroying their dreams if you beat them i wouldent want that hanging on my back. yes you might compete in the cage as a individuale but u dont reach there without the help and sacrivise of others.Once again dana white just thinking about money like he allways does!
