White: Pettis Knee Recovering Well, But July Aldo Bout Not Likely
If the long discussed super-fight between Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis does end up taking place, it won’t be as soon as anticipated. As reported by MMAWeekly.com, Pettis will not be ready to fight Jose Aldo in July, which was when Pettis wanted the bout to take place, since he is still on the mend from PCL surgery. However, despite the setback, Pettis’s doctor believes that his recovery is going well.
“Anthony Pettis successfully delivered twin screws from his right hand today,” White read from a medical report. “His knee is recovering fabulously, rehabbing great with no complications. Day 63 post-op on knee is looking good.”
When asked about whether or not the Aldo/Pettis fight would happen in July, White said “No, I don’t think so. It’s gonna be later than that…He’s recovering really well and we’ll see what happens.”
With the fight postponed, Aldo may take another featherweight bout in the interim. Chad Mendes would be the most likely candidate, thanks to his impressive 5-fight winning streak.
