White Confirms Weidman vs. Belfort Will Be On July 4th Weekend Or Memorial Day

Earlier today the UFC boss made the media rounds while promoting his new ‘Fighters’ reality show and this weekend’s UFC on FOX 10 event.

In an interview with FOX Sports, White, announced that the UFC is narrowing down their options for the highly anticipated Weidman vs. Belfort middleweight title fight.

Check it:

“Weidman’s pushing for it to be earlier because he wants to have a normal summer with his family. He hasn’t had a normal summer in a while so we’re going to try to accommodate that.

We’re looking at it might end up being July 4th, we’re still working on it. It could be Fourth of July. It could be (Memorial Day), it’s going to be one of those.”

With no GSP and no Anderson I’m shocked the UFC is going to leave one of their bigger draws of the year in Vitor + Weidman (who I’m sure many will tune in to see whether or not he is a fluke champion or not) out for so long. 2014 will not be kind to the UFC…

You kidding me old man?…The UFC has a breathe of fresh air now that boring GSP is gone and old Silva is out…2014 will be the best year ever!!! Go ALL USA Wrestling Champions in ALL divisions in the UFC for 2014.

        A. They’ve just lost their two biggest draws for all of 2014. They are going to be losing money and 2014 will not be kind to the UFC as far as business is concerned. As far as the divisions are concerned I think it’s a pretty exciting time to be a fan.

        B. That is almost certainly not going to happen but it actually is looking more likely than ever before with really only Aldo and Barao as the non Male American Wrestlers to hold a belt at the moment, other than Pettis who will likely be beaten by a good wrestler in 2014.

Then there’s Ronda Rousey, who isn’t a wrestler, but then again I would love to see McMann take her out and there is a good chance of that happening. I highly doubt Aldo will lose, and I doubt Barao will lose but there is a fair chance of that happening to Urijah.

All in all it’s been a really good year for US champions with major wrestling backgrounds, but I don’t think they’re ready to take over every division quite yet.

Weidman will whoop Vitor’s ass. No TRT spells ass whooping. Plus Vitor is a mental midget in title fights.
