Werdum vs Nogueira is officially set for UFC on FUEL TV 10 | UFC NEWS

It should come as no surprise that Ultimate Fighter: Brazil Season 2 coaches Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will fight at the Main Event on UFC on FUEL TV 10.

It should be no surprise, because the fight has been long rumored to be taking place at the event. It was finally confirmed on Tuesday night. The bout is expected to take place at the Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil on June 8th.

TUF: Brazil follows the same outline as its American counterpart. There will be a set of elimination fights, then a single elimination tournament, and ending with the tournament finale. The finale will also be on UFC on FUEL TV 10.

Werdum (16-5-1) comes into the fight with a two fight win streak. His most recent victory came at UFC 147 over Mike Russow by TKO in the first round. After almost a full year layoff, Werdum will enter the fight looking to avenge his 2006 Unanimous Decision loss Nogueira in a Pride Open Weight Grand Prix.

Nogueira (34-7-1, 1 NC) is coming into the fight off a victory at UFC 153 over Dave Herman, winning the fight with an armbar submission in the second round. This will be his second fight since returning from the gruesome injury he suffered from his fight with Frank Mir at UFC 140. In that fight Nogueira hesitated to tap and Mir broke his arm and injured his shoulder. Both his shoulder and arm required surgery, and 10 months of rest and rehab.

A victory by Werdum could push his name into the discussion for a possible title shot. While Nogueira needs the victory to continue his road back to becoming a title contender.
