Weidman Planning On Beating Anderson Silva And Making It Look Easy

“I’m a huge fan of Anderson Silva. He’s one of my favorite fighters to watch. Obviously he has 16 fights in a row with the UFC, defended his belt, whatever it is. He does a great job, he is so confident. He is beating most of guys before they even walk in the cage. Once they get in the cage with them, he does such a great job of making them feel like they do not belong in the cage with him, like, ‘Are you joking me? You are not on my level.’ He makes them feel so uncomfortable that they just want to break. He has them broken and then he can hit them with whatever he wants and then he looks like a freaking God. I agree and I do think he is the best of all time. He is pound-for-pound the best, but I think I’m better. I think I can beat him. There’s a lot of motivation for the fight. One of the biggest for me is to prove all of those people that actually think I’m going to get killed and see him as unbeatable. I can’t wait to prove them wrong. I want to make it look easy out there. I want to shock the world.”

Anderson Silva’s next title challenger, Chris Weidman, tells The Fight Networks 5 Rounds, that he is ready to shock the world and prove that he is better then Anderson Silva.

Can he do it?

  1. Chael took AS down.. says:

easily, but Chael has no ground and pound.
Weidman has GNP that’s way more effective than Sonnen. That is the difference.
    Weidman by TKO.
    Everyone loses sometime….everyone.

    • Sasquatch says:

I can’t help but agree with you. He’s the most confident opponent yet to face Anderson (Sonnen’s was just for show).

    • DEH DERP☺☻♦•◘♣♠ says:

Yeah and when Weidman’s jaw gets blasted to the back of his neck trying to take him down, that GNP is really going to matter. Chael is twice the wrestler this dude is and Anderson kept that 2nd round on the feet and ended it. Anderson first round KO

  2. David says:

I am pretty sure that Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin, Stefan Bonner, Chris Leben, James Irvin, Yushin Okami, and all of the other guys that fought Anderson had the exact same plan. I will still be cheering for Weidman.

    • frank says:

david i think everyone on that list except bonnar and okami thought they could stand and trade with anderson. only okami and and bonnar went for take downs. not talking crap about anderson but i believe chris is going to shock the world. anderson is the ali of mma but even ali lost and so will anderson.

  3. stevo the great says:

No…see….this is a twist of words. What Weidman really meant to say was “He will make getting beat up by Anderson look easy.” And that he will take it “worse than the shocker”…..that is what he meant to say.

  4. Lol says:

Haha good one widman! You can tell he is trying to convince himself and probably crying at night thinking about what is to come.. Silva will shock the world by absolutely destroying this amateur, I see first round KO for Silva. Widman better shut his mouth, the more he talks the more Silva get pumped…

  5. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

This dude makes me laugh. It’s almost like he really believes it! Silva will have an easy payday, Weidman is not good enough to be a true threat.

  6. Dddddddd says:

I like Weidman and think he would be a great American champ. No one matches Sylvas UFC credentials but Weidman has definitely done more in the UFC than Sylva did to earn a title shot. He’s obviously been a dominant guy in wrestling and has a lot of accomplishments and desired to represent us in the olympics. Weidmans been working extremely hard for a lot of years and I don’t see how that’s not obvious. Sylva is tha greatest and I wouldn’t say different but he had a loss buy his third fight and it was unanimous. Weidman won his first three fights with a finish in the first round with the longest fight going barely past three minutes. I’m not comparing them,I just think they could be matched on paper. I will support Weidman as a patriot and I think he has more than a fair chance to win.

    • Hah says:

You are a true idiot… Wiedman beat two guys who were anyway good, one who was an easy match up for him (Maia) and the other was an out of shape Munoz who gave up no fight against him really. Anderson owned one of the top contenders at the time within the first minute of the first round, without getting hit. He also proved himself outside of the UFC, which is crazy to you retarded Americans.

      • Dddddddd says:

I would have a reaction if you were worth the little bit of energy it takes to post one. You didn’t even understand my post let alone the possibilities of this fight. Your little immature ass is truly a stereotypical fan of Sylva. You need to read your comic books and keep hopin you might get to see Sylvas penis fall out his shorts. If your gonna reply make sure you can comprehend what your replying too and if you would like you have my permission to create an opinion of your own based on knowledge and possibilities not just desire to service Sylva like the prostitute your sell out ass is.

        • Thurgood Jenkins says:

I’m not trying to offend you, because I’d rather engage in a peaceful debate than name calling over one another’s opinion, but I think the guy above is correct. Who exactly is Weidman and what has he done to deserve this besides doing interview after interview and commenting that he deserves a shot? UFC probably just got annoyed and gave it to him so he would shut up. Think about it. In the WW division, he notched a decision over Maia in what was probably the most boring, sloppy fight in, at least UFC, history (including all of Fitch’s fights; hell, I’ll even throw in Ben Askren’s snoozefests as a further comparison).

I understand he had three straight wins going into that fight, but against who? Alessio Sakara and Tom Lawlor are not exactly top contenders. And Jesse Bongfeldt. Who the hell is that? Guy that Jonathan Goulet knocked out, so he’s not exactly the cream of the crop either.

Furthermore, Hah is absolutely correct on his assessment of the Munoz fight. He came in there post-surgery and very much out of shape, not even close to the Munoz who destroyed Leben. Had that been the case, the fight would have been completely different.

So comparing Weidman to Silva in terms of what it took to get a shot, let’s see: Leben was a contender and widely known because of his stint on TUF. Silva destroyed him in less than a minute. Additionally, Silva held championships in various organizations and was already nationally known as one of the pound for pound best. Before he came to UFC, who knew Weidman? No one. What notable opponents did he beat? None. Any titles? No. And back in ’06 the UFC’s roster was quite sparse unlike today. The road to the title wasn’t exactly a long one. Guys were getting title shots coming off losses back then.

In the end, Weidman is in a much better position than he should be. He hasn’t fought a top 5 guy, Sonnen, Bisping, Belfort, Okami, etc. The fact that Silva lost his third fight is wholly irrelevant. I agree with your comment that Silva is the greatest. He’ll dispense Weidman quickly and we’ll finally hear nothing but silence from then on.

        • Ddddddd says:

I absolutely appreciate your perspective and only felt the need to be immature and sarcastic because I was attacked and wouldn’t mistake your opinion for anything of the sort if it wasn’t. I feel I have already answered most of your questions with my original post. What surprises me about the whole Anderson thing is that people really can’t recognize the threat of any of his opponents. Rather than me writing all of Weidmans credentials in a post you should look up his wrestling background and see who he also defeated competing there that are UFC fighters if your gonna compare their pasts before the UFC. The guys that Weidman beat are absolutely legit the first couple not so much but to fight with confidence against Mia under those conditions was more impressive than Sylvas fight with him being able to prepare.
Man,I could go all out on a tangent about the credentials Weidman has but I’d rather you look him up and inform yourself on the possibilities of this fight and what the genius of it is. You should respect your fighters opponents or there wins can’t mean that much too you. Having a favorite fighter around here seems to just cloud judgment and dumb the debate of the sport down.

  7. GRT 3000 says:

well I guess he can’t say I’m going to go out there and get my ass beat. This kid is good but he’s not ready for Anderson Silva by any stretch…I’ll leave all the speculation for the card build up, but Anderson (as always) will beat the shit out of his opponent. When the spider actually starts to slow down, I will begin to question if he can win, but he’s not at this point yet.

    • "When the spider actually starts to slow down, I will begin to question if he can win." says:

Duhhhh. So dumb. That’s Anderson fans rationalizing, saying that if Silva loses, age is finally playing a factor. And then they’ll follow that up with “if Anderson was in his prime, he would smash Weidman..” blah blah blah… But if Silva wins, age will not come into question.

      • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

+1,000,000 – This guy’s(grt) knowledge of mma is almost that of stupid nerdy 14 year old. He actually has these guys as his heroes. smh.

      • GRT 3000 says:

no he’s just the GOAT and always destroys his opponents dipshit. & he hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down. You 2 clowns are just a couple of haters (prob KKK or something – for sure with fat churchy @Gayboy is) you 2 idiots can keep dreaming of the day Anderson loses. consider it your gay birthday…but it won’t be when he fights this bum ladies. & so Anderson will have a couple more hating goofs he can silence…once again. hahaha

      • The Way Of The Dutchman says:

No it’s not dumb…..That’s the thing with aging. We all age and we all should know and acknowledge that after a certain point aging does not make a fighter perform better.

So yeah if he at some point in his career is going to lose, not this time yet because Weidman is in above his head right now, but when it does happen that will probably be because he’s grown too old. And yes when he wins people will still talk about his age. And it will come into question, already has in fact.

The last couple of fights Silva’s age was already been brought up because he’s still performing so well at the age of 38 without TRT.

  8. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

I like Weidman’s confidence. He will need to bring it with pressure. Silva has great timing with his counter’s, BUT Weidman and everybody that knows anything knows that if there isn’t any distance, there ain’t no countering. Sonnen showed how to beat Silva. Weidman is as good as Sonnen and will close the distance double Silva down and he will tko or submit him. Silva isn’t going to submit Weidman. If Weidman does not pressure Silva, Silva will probably TKO him. Now let’s talk about how much cheating Silva will do in this fight. As he did with Sonnen, he will grab shorts while punching, he will grab the fence and he will definitely knee a downed opponent if he gets the chance. He is a douche and that is how douches act…isn’t that right grt, you know what I’m talking about don’t you? lmao.

    • The Way Of The Dutchman says:

You do realize Sonnen lost twice right? And that is not all he lost all juiced up too. You conveniently keep that little bit of information out.

      • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Yes he lost both fights. But he won 5 of those 7 rounds. Now, I know you are smarter than some Silva huthuggers (grt) on here and can give unbiased analysis when you want to even though you area bit of a Silva worshipper. You have to agree from an objective point of view that Sonnen did show what someone needs to do to handle Silva, right? Weidman is better than Sonnen and can do to Silva what Sonnen did and that is take him down and dominate. Weidman has more jitz and can punch him out too. You have to agree that Weidman can beat him and possibly beat him easily.

    • GRT 3000 says:

you fat churchy, you’re talking abt cheating?! I’m surprised you haven’t gone clepto on my handle AGAIN, with all the schooling you’ve taken from me. you just keep laying in your bed like a fat pig that can’t get out of it (hahaha) and leave the MMA analysis to folks with brains, balls, and experience.

      • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

I see your guess’s about anything are as accurate as your IQ, 5%. You are really clueless little boy. If you only knew. The only experience a little douche like you has is brains full of balls. Your mma analysis are that of a 14 year old. btw; do you ever even give an anlysis or do you just flame? smh I’ll bet you wax your eyebrows, lol.

        • you guys dnt kno shit !! says:

im not gona get into who he beat and all that cuz its already been posted………….. but you two geeks didnt mention is its as easy as making one mistake like when silva lost to ryo chonan and just like that……. he looses the belt…..dont go petting a school bus like its a horse there buddy LMFAO , i joke i joke ….. as for the gargoyle dude i say ……your a fuckin window warrior ,aka internet tough guy lmfao

  9. confucius says:

gargoyle you might be the dumbest fuck on earth

  10. Haha says:

^^^ agree with grt3000. Hey gayoil would you please come out of the closet if weidman loses…

  11. 123 says:

i like his confidence, cant wait

  12. Lol says:

Agreed, gargoyle is a dipshit he keeps saying that silva will lose but it won’t happen anytime soon you fuckface. You can keep dreaming and suck widman cock it won’t help you you retarded white pride dumb fuck. Go wrestle with your pal sonnen and hump each others all night you gay fuck

  13. Sasquatch says:

All you guys who treat AS like a GOD are in for a surprise.. nobody’s invincible. I’m not so blind by the awesomeness of the almighty AS that I can’t see this is a bad matchup for him. Now go ahead, slander and insult me for a difference of opinion if it makes you feel better but it’s not going to change. My $$’s on Weidman.

    • GRT 3000 says:

I don’t think he’s an invincible God, and I do believe (of course) that at some point he’s going to lose. I don’t think it’s wrong to have the opinion that Weidmans going to win; the clowns that get slammed in here are the one’s who HATE on the GOAT, and for jealous reasons discount his legitimacy. on the heels of all that, AS is not going to be dethroned by Weidman. my original comment on here before the whiners started in, was that AS at 38 has shown no signs of slowing down. in top form, he’s going to destroy Weidman. That’s just my objective opinion. but…as usual we will see what happens.

      • lmfao says:

your last sentance is the smartest thing u said……everything else is blah-blah-blah-blah ….it just takes one mistake….i mean conditt almoust got gsp via tko ……because of a mistake

      • Sasquatch says:

Everyone has a right to their own opinion and I can respect that… just like you said, we’ll see what happens.

  14. RENT says:

ill put it nice and simple this dude is the only true threat in middleweight anderson has it easy this guy is 10 times the wrestler than sonnen and even Cormier, Sonnen and GSP agreed hes got wat it takes to win but is it too early for him, he hasnt had any really big fights apart from munoz, i think experience in the end is gonna win this fight with anderson pulling another last minute triangle, but i tell ya wat its gonna be better than sonnen vs silva
