Weidman Coach: Fluke talk could get 40-Year Old Concussed Silva Hurt

“As a coach… everyone wants at least one champion. To have two, and to have them both start as young kids, or young adults that are from the neighborhood…Any time you have a guy that’s considered unbeatable, the aftermath, especially right after there, people were confused. I mean, the Brazilians, they didn’t know what to do. He did it with Forrest, he did it with Bonnar. Weidman does it, and it’s not acceptable. If he would have missed with that left hook, Silva comes back with a right hand and drops him, he’s a hero. I think anybody who’s in the know doesn’t pay any attention to that.

“Nobody’s taking that victory away. We all know what happened, and anybody who’s worked out with him, sparring or wrestling, they know he’s going to do it again. If they motivate him by saying this was a fluke, he might kill a guy, yeah, he’ll hurt him… he’s that type of guy, yeah. You’re taking a 40 year old man who got his head bounced off the canvas. Like what doctor is he going to that is going to reccomend that he get back in there? ‘Couple of months, that’s good.’ Just had a major concussion. ‘Yah put him in that’s good…’ Guy’s 40 years old, he’s got a big task ahead of him…”

Ray Longo has cultivated the careers of two UFC champions in Matt Serra and now Chris Weidman. In this interview with Ring Fever he discusses the Silva/Weidman rematch and what he expects the outcome to be.

  1. john says:

    Longo is delusional.
Silva didn’t have a “major concussion”…it was a flash ko and he was fine a minute after.

  2. Big daddy says:

It was a fluke! Anyone without any type of training can clearly see that Silva is on another level.

  3. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

I saw the kind of punches Weidman threw and it was ridiculous. In slow motion it’s even worse. It was the level of a drunk bar brawler. Silva made a mistake and lost focus. I know Longo has to talk up his pupil and have his back, which is admirable but in the back of his head he knows what really happened.

  4. Night-Wind says:

    He’s ONLY 38.

  5. 757 says:

    scoreboard

  6. Renzo says:

An over confident Weidman will get him knocked out.

  7. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Man, I am sincerely beginning to feel really sorry for Silva. He’s going to get a worse beating then what GSP did to BJ in their second fight. I guess it’s just Silva’s turn to be beat up bad. The tide has turned, the young have taken over Silva the old man is glass jawed now and I just feel sorry for him. Unfortunately, Silva will go out badly, he will be cheating anyway he can in this fight to try and get an advantage. He’ll be fence grabbing, short grabbing, and any other cheat move he can get away with to try and win. Won’t help though, it will just tarnish the idolatry of his nutlickers. Weidman by annihilation.

  8. pikajew says:

I don’t pay attention to the people here. I read and occasionally comment, but I’m guessing Gargoyle Wrestling is the forum troll here.

Anyway, he’s just showing support to his fighter. Weidman doesn’t have anything on Silva except his wrestling, which Silva has no problem defending. Silva simply got caught off guard with a sloppy punch while not being serious. He fought silly like Weidman was just a twelve year old kid. Weidman has a true beating coming his way. This was a fluke just like GSP vs. Serra. History will repeat itself.

    • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

I’m sure you won’t come back to read and comment because you are a drive-by poster as you just explained, but I would like ask you a question. What is your definition of a troll? Is it someones opinion you don’t agree with, or someone writes something you think is not factual? If it is something not factual, then please tell me what is not factual in my post. Sincerely, interested in your definition? I personally just think your butthurt cuz the fighter you supported got KTFO. Could be wrong though. Am I wrong or just being a prick or both?

      • The Way Of The Dutchman says:

You assume Silva will cheat. He got knocked out for the first time and immediately you state he has a glass jaw. Those aren’t facts. The first one is just slander and the second one is just pure wishful thinking.

        • 757 says:

Silva did get knocked down by Chael in the first fight. I haven’t seen anyone else fall down or get wobbled by Chael……..

        • GRT 3000 says:

but Chael was juiced to the max in that one; can’t leave that fact out. I could prob. drop a Rhino one punch on that much TRT.

  9. Silva Will Win says:

Are you people blind ??? Did you not watch the fight…

Anderson was basically not even fighting. He was clowning around and acting like and idiot. He got lazy and it cost him finally…

YES Chris Weidman beat up a defenseless man. Congrats.

Let’s see what happens when Anderson actually decides to fight back this time.

    • Who's blind? Respond to this post if you think... says:

…that Anderson Silva won the first round of his fight against Weidman. And if you do thinks so, state that first in your post, that you think Anderson Silva won the first round of that fight.
Because the entire fight lasted much longer than the two minutes of the second round, so it WASN’T just Silva fckng off. Silva did nothing to Weidman in the first round.
So many retarded statements in favor of Silva: “defenseless man,” “Weidman doesn’t have anything on Silva, EXCEPT HIS WRESTLING” (like that fact is so insignificant..lol)”people hate winners”..OMG. doesn’t end, does it???
One thing that is FACT and irrefutable: Weidman knocked Silva out and caused Silva to grab the referee. Can’t get more KOed than that.

  10. Sugar Ponybear says:

I don’t think Gargoyal Wrestling is a troll, just ignorant and not to bright with his choice of words. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how dumb it is. With that said, people hate winners, it’s in their nature. People have been waiting to write off Silva for years, so now that he’s lost its only natural people are gonna jump on it. What they fail to realize is Silva is one of the best, like Ali and Tyson. Weidman was in the right place at the right time, like Spinks and Douglas. Like many have said before me, this rematch is going to be a GSP/Serra II. And IF that’s how it goes, this coach should just retire already.

  11. Dan Jenkins says:

I truly believe Ray Longo is borderline retarded.

  12. dre says:

this wrestling jerkoff believes in gsp bj penn 2…i believe he should be banned for being an idiot. im surprised your an adult and actually get paid to work somewhere. Well buisnesses to get tax cuts for hiring all people so i guess that is possible

    • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Actually, I run the show and I pay people to work and be productive not to suck on welfare or obummer’s dick..Oh yah don’t forget, I’m a prick too.

  13. James says:

People can talk all they want, fans, coaches, presidents, etc, etc – At the end of the day the only words that matter are that of Silva and Weidman, and the only time they matter is just after the fight. There are NO coaches in a MMA fight, there are no time outs, no second chances, its just YOU & the OTHER person your fighting, no one else. Doesn’t matter what people say, it only matters what you and the person your fighting says. Come Fight Night the only talking that gets done is with your hands in the octagon

  14. Foxie says:

Ray Longo talks so much shit. Notice every article is something HE said. That guy isnt worthy to wash Silvas jockstrap.

  15. Jon K. Wright says:

Fluke times 2. Weidman better clear the division out.
