Weidman: Anderson Silva is not a superhero

“You have to treat him like just another opponent. You respect what he’s done in this sport. Of course you do. But you can’t get caught up in it. Guess what? He’s a person just like I am, he’s got two arms, two legs, two eyes, like I do. I’m not fighting a superhero, I’m fighting another person, and it’s my job to defeat him. Simple as that. I feel like I have the right mix of skills, the desire, the determination, to get the job done. The UFC thinks enough of me to give me the title shot. To those who might think I don’t deserve this yet, all I can say is, tune in on July 6 and I’ll show you otherwise.”

One of the busiest men in MMA’s media circuit, Chris Weidman, does another interview, this time with YahooSports about his upcoming fight against Anderson Silva.

What?!! Really?!? I thought Anderson turns into a giant spider everynight and fights crime! Weidman, you are a great athlete but you’re still green. You have no idea what its like to be in a cage with that man. You’ll find out the hard way just like all the others.

  2. The kid says:

Yeah I like Weidman but idk if he’s gonna be able to crack silva nobody has been able to great wrestlers, strikers, people with a little bit of both. If Weidman wants to beat him he need to be on that next level of mix marial arts

  3. JP says:

Weidman with a good gameplan has a shot…BUT… Anderson wins this fight 9 out of 10 times.

  4. GRT 3000 says:

if he’s talking abt it like this he’s trying to convince himself…
to Weidman; ‘Anderson IS just a man’ …keep saying it until you believe it.
