It was announced on “UFC Tonight” Tuesday night that the UFC is targeting a bout between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson.  The fight, which has been targeted for a to-be-named card in Brazil on November 9, will be a rematch between the two.  They first met at PRIDE 32 in 2006, where Henderson won a unanimous decision.

Belfort has been waiting for an opponent since his second consecutive KO win over top middleweight contenders, Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold.  He announced that, unless he fought next for the middleweight title, he would only fight at light heavyweight or at a catch-weight.  Through his wife and manager, he asked for either Chael Sonnen or Dan Henderson.

Of course, Belfort’s plans were somewhat derailed when Chris Weidman upset former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, at UFC 168.  The two were immediately scheduled for a rematch, putting Belfort in a position to wait a considerable amount of time for his shot at UFC gold.

Henderson, 42, was only recently set to face Jon Jones for Jones’ light heavyweight title.  In the days leading up to the fight, however, an injury forced the California wrestler to pull out the fight.  Since returning to action, Henderson has fought and lost two close split decisions, first to Lyoto Machida, and most recently to Rashad Evans.

The November 9 card, which has yet to be announced, will take place in Brazil.  It will likely serve as UFC Fight Night 31.
