Vinny Magalhaes: I’ll retire if cut by the UFC

When Vinny Magalhaes (10-7 MMA, 1-4 UFC) left his gloves in the Octagon following a 14-second knockout loss to 40-year-old Australian Anthony Perosh (14-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC 163, many wondered if he was retiring.

In an interview with MSN Brazil, Magalhaes shed some light on his current situation saying the following:

“I have one more fight left in my contract, but we all know that it doesn’t mean much and there’s a chance that I get cut,” said Magalhaes. “Before this fight I said I deserved to get cut if I didn’t win. I’m waiting for UFC’s decision, anything can happen, but I really don’t care, man.”

“People say that the UFC doesn’t pay much to their fighters, but if you look to the other events it’s even worse. So if they cut me, I don’t see why I should keep fighting in other events. I’d rather open my own gym than fight for little money. I stopped fighting in Jiu-Jitsu because of the financial part, so it would make no sense for me to return now. If the UFC doesn’t renew my contract, I’ll stop.”

Vinny has now dropped back-to-back fights in the octagon. Prior to being KO’d by Perosh, Magalhaes lost a lopsided decision to light heavyweight contender Phil Davis at UFC 159.

Do you think Vinny deserves another octagon appearance? Let’s hear it Penn Nation!

Amazes me all the hate I see toward Vinny on these MMA websites. I realize half you idiots have no clue how good his BJJ really is. Vinny is one of the best BJJ athletes in the world. Everyone thinks Werdum is so awesome being a world champ at BJJ and so few know that Vinny beat werdum who is easily 40-50 lbs bigger than Vinny. Vinny beat him in the overall. Just because Vinny isn’t the best MMA fighter in world doesn’t mean people should slam him for getting caught with a big shot. Serra is half GSP’s size and GSP has a 7 inch reach advantage and he KO’d GSP. Anyone can get caught at anytime with those 4 oz gloves. Best of luck to Vinny no matter what he does BJJ or stays with BJJ. You don’t become the best BJJ guy in world by being a chump

Hey 757 – little weasel thinks he’s hiding but this site has his IP address and you can request information form them. From there, they can be tracked down. Low self-esteem is the root cause. This kidd is unable to challenge you directly and so tries these little games. If they are older than 15 then man they gonna have some major life issues. If 15ish, then still a pussy punk but maybe can learn form being a coward now. Besides I don’t know what they are afraid of? You and I are just a couple of cuddly sabertooths!!!

“this site has his IP address and you can request information form them. From there, they can be tracked down.” LOL dipshit alert. Be nice if this site took a more active stance removing the comments and banning morons for this sort of rubbish.

        • GRT 3000 says:
