VIDEO | Watch Chandler Knock Out Gono In Under A Minute Last Night | MMA NEWS
Reigning Bellator Lightweight World Champion Michael Chandler proved once again how dangerous he is in the cage — and this time he needed only 56 seconds to make his point as the undefeated mixed martial artist crushed proven MMA veteran Akihiro Gono with a big right hand and pounced the seasoned Japanese fighter for the first-round TKO victory Friday night in front of a packed house at Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario, Canada LIVE on MTV2 and in HD on EPIX.
Bryan Baker had a big night as well as the red-hot welterweight now moves onto the finals of the Bellator Season 6 Welterweight Tournament with a win against Ben “Killa B” Saunders. Ryan Ford was able to score a huge comeback victory over Bellator veteran Luis “Sapo” Santos, and Damian Grabowski picked up a dominant victory in the night’s other televised bout.

Chandler should be in the UFC.
I’m sure its a just a matter of time.
Wow, I graduated high school with Chandler. Nice to see he turned into a true warrior.
Cool!
Fighters like Chandler and Alvarez (sorry, I know this thread is about Chandler) are what will help push MMA to yet another exciting level. The athleticism, the striking, the speed, and the overall skills on the feet or ground displayed by Chandler make for really exciting fights, even if they’re under a minute long.
Chandler should for sure bein UFC but the person who made or allowed that matchup should never be allowed to be a matchmaker ever again. Chandler looked 2 weight classes bigger than Gono but he also looked at least a weight class bigger than Alverez to. No way a 37 year old (MUCH MUCH SMALLER) Japanese fighter who looked closer to 60 should be fighting a phenom 22 year old kid. Not only because of safety but it was a complete waste of time and IMO made Bellator look like a complete second rate organization looking to pad record of its champion. Bellator has alot of fighters that are very underrated and they usually put on some very good fights but someone missed the boat on this matchup to say the least. OFF TOPIC: I still would pay just about anything to see GSP have balls to accept Ben Askrens challege to a wrestling match. Say what you want about Askren he would mop the floor with GSP in a wrestling match. Johny Henrdricks who on eof the best colleg wrestlers ever said without the cage he would best GSP in awrestling match and he would gaurantee GSP could not take him down (without cage) my money is one Hendricks and Askren despite what all UFC fanboys think
That has me worried about the transition for Lombard coming to the UFC. He might get exposed for just being a can crusher.
Btw Askren sucks balls, I highly dislike that origami champ. After Ben beats GSP in a wrestling match, GSP would beat Askren in a Karate and Boxing match.
Was a sad display by Ben Saunders. Its not a wonder why he is no longer UFC material
I guess he gassed… Brian Baker just manhandled him and Brian Baker isn’t even impressive.
I think alot of saunders problem is he cuts so much weight. He must cut 40 pounds to make 170. He might even cut more weight than Fitch. 2nd third round he has nothing left
Saunders looked awful. Chandler looked vicious.
word
Early stoppage for Chandler vs Gono.
i agree. a few shots landed but he was all there still. gono shoulda tried to cover up a little better though to help his case. looks like that bump into the cage messed with his footing a bit too. props to chandler though for capitalizing on it and going all out for the finish. he could be on his way to the UFC soon.
why was a champion in Chandler fighting a Gono; a guy who’s lost his last two fights?
Fluff for his record.
