“That Rowdy Rousey is the BEST LOOKING striker in MMA. ”

Striker? She wins all of her matches via armbar, most of them she barely throws a single strike.

    • reece says:

You are joking right? She destroyed Meisha with more that 100 more strikes lol it was like Rousey 130 something strikes landed and Tate 20 something yet if it said Tate the striker you would question it? hahah Crack any crack?

      • Mr. Magik says:

That was one fight. That’s the same as saying “Cigano has the best kicking skills in MMA.” Need to see it in the next fight to agree.

      • Freedom Lover says:

Rousey has how many wins by knockout? Zero. I’m not sure what you call a striker, it’s generally someone who wins by striking. A grappler is someone who wins by grappling. Even if you want to count her strikes, almost all of them are from a dominant grappling position to achieve a submission. She doesn’t look for stand-up exchanges.

“f it said Tate the striker”

Tate isn’t a striker either. Someone who calls Tate or Rousey a striker is clueless on fighting. It’d be like calling a quarterback a pitcher because they both throw balls. No.

She’s a grappler. Tate is also a grappler, and McMann is …. (drumroll)… a grappler. Different types of grappling, sure. Rousey fights from the clinch and not from the outside looking to shoot.

Different strategies as well, Miesha GnP while Rousey is straight submission. Tate is a great wrestler, she only looks bad when she goes against Rousey. McMann has a stronger wrestling pedigree, but same basic problem Tate has. You can’t take down Rousey and that means you have to fight her in the clinch, where she is extremely dominant.

And add to that her teammates think she’s immune to Judo throws, if she believes that, she’s in serious trouble. Karo Parisyan almost beat Diego Sanchez (edit) because Diego didn’t think he could be thrown, and he got dumped repeatedly. Fortunately Parisyan never trains and gasses quick, but any wrestler thinking their immune to a high-level Judo player is going to find out their wrong the hard way.

        • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

You’re wrong, a wrestler is heads and shoulders more dominant than a judo thrower. The reason wrestlers are so much more dominant and control the clinch is that they keep a deep root and a deep hip control. If a judoka or anybody can get below that center, then they can throw anybody, whether a wrestler or not. But a wrestler will always adjust to those attempts to keep control or push off if about to lose it. It’s obvious you don’t know or have actually wrestled much in your life to make the statements you just did. Tate was an idiot rushing into Rousey with high hips and basically a bear hug. She handed those throws over to Rousey. Tate is NO McMann. It will be a good match, and McMann has a good chance of a UD, but Rousey will probably armbar.

says the dumbast racist nerd who hates weed

        • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

you are a brain dead pot head…good luck with that….dude, I can’t be racist I’m fucking black!!! or at least half-black.

        • Freedom Lover says:

“The reason wrestlers are so much more dominant and control the clinch is that they keep a deep root and a deep hip control.”

Yeah, I saw a Judo player use the clinch to knee the liver. So your whole theory just went to the mat in a puddle in one minute.

As per your question, I competed in both wrestling in college and Judo. Judo rules have evolved since I played in a way that I’m not happy about, removing some of the wrestling moves and penalizing good ground techniques with too quick a stand-up. So much the worse for the sport IMHO.

Regardless, this fight proved that the idea a wrestler is automatically “so much more” dominant is hog wash.
