Sensei Steven Seagal joined UFC Tonight analyst Ariel Helwani after Anderson Silva’s epic victory at UFC 148. Seagal’s prediction of a 2nd round finish came true and he couldn’t be happier with the performance.

Yes he is a Sensei. The man is the only American to ever open a dojo in Japan and is an Aikido master. He did all this way before he became a cheesy movie actor. That’s why Hollywood was attracted to him because he was a badass, but unfortunately he was a sucky actor. Do some research people. Is the man a douchebag? Seems so. Is the man a great actor? Hell no. Is the man a legit master in a form of martial arts? Yes. And that’s what matters here.
All that you said is true, but at the same time Aikido and MMA is apples and oranges.. Aikido is a soft martial art, with a lot of joint manipulation and stuff like that… Its not very practical at all in MMA or in a self defense situation unless your as nasty as Segal with it…. So yeah, he is relevant because he is a martial artist but at the same time.. its like an NBA player playin in a NFL game two different games
If you find one technique that works for you in the cage. Even if it is not a “MMA style”. It is worth it. That one technique that works for you in the cage. Could be the one that wins your next fight.
BJJ is alot of joint manipulation as well. Aikido does have several strikes. So there certainly are several techniques that can be quite useful in mma.
Same as wrestling, that’s not a real martial art, but the takedowns are useful in mma.

Seagal. I don’t know what to think of him. Is he full of it? If so, why does Silva’s crew have him around. Mow did he get involved with. Them in the first place? Doesn’t make sense. Of all the people to have on your crew, and it’s Anderson fricken silva, not some newbie desperate for a coach. Head scratcher.

I can’t believe that some people think Steven Segal is legit. He’s a fat ****ing joke, plain and simple. I’m sure if Anderson’s coaches spoke English they would be pissed. Akido is not a combat art it’s not meant to be one, it’s closer to Tai Chi than BJJ. So stop drinking the kool-aid they did not plan for Chael to throw a dumb ass spinning back fist and fall. The guys a douche, Anderson was in trouble in the first round he showed heart to come back and get the win. That should be the point not that he was relaxed when Chael had full mount, that shows his complete and total ignorance for MMA. And yeah wrestling is not a martial art nor is boxing they’re combat sports.

I hate the way Ariel keeps referring to the first round as “dominating”, Chael exerted a bunch of energy and no pregresion.. Maybe he’s still refferring to the first fight??
