VIDEO | Sensei Steven Seagal Praises Anderson Silva’s Performance | UFC NEWS

“We were expecting that, and if you will notice… I’ve aways said this, just because somebody is on top of you, doesn’t mean they’re winning.

We wanted him to expend a lot of energy, and we felt that Anderson just held him and was relaxing and that he did NOTHING to him.

I mean he just was expending all his energy, and that’s why in the second round he was able to do what he did!”

Sensei Steven Seagal joined UFC Tonight analyst Ariel Helwani after Anderson Silva’s epic victory at UFC 148. Seagal’s prediction of a 2nd round finish came true and he couldn’t be happier with the performance.

I called 2nd round TKO for silva and it came true… Good stuff Silva… I saw this coming.. :)

    • mahs says:

Good Call. I had predicted a 2nd Rd TKO as well.

Still dont understand why people hate on Stevan Segal so much. He’s just a coach who used to be famous. If Anderson Silva, the “GOAT” didn’t want him there by his side, he wouldn’t be there.

That might be enough of a voucher for me to assume Segal is legit.

    • Joe Blow says:

yeah, me too, i predicted 2nd round TKO. way to go Anderson!

    • Nuitari X says:

Yes he is a Sensei. The man is the only American to ever open a dojo in Japan and is an Aikido master. He did all this way before he became a cheesy movie actor. That’s why Hollywood was attracted to him because he was a badass, but unfortunately he was a sucky actor. Do some research people. Is the man a douchebag? Seems so. Is the man a great actor? Hell no. Is the man a legit master in a form of martial arts? Yes. And that’s what matters here.

      • B-rad says:

All that you said is true, but at the same time Aikido and MMA is apples and oranges.. Aikido is a soft martial art, with a lot of joint manipulation and stuff like that… Its not very practical at all in MMA or in a self defense situation unless your as nasty as Segal with it…. So yeah, he is relevant because he is a martial artist but at the same time.. its like an NBA player playin in a NFL game two different games

        • Randori says:

If you find one technique that works for you in the cage. Even if it is not a “MMA style”. It is worth it. That one technique that works for you in the cage. Could be the one that wins your next fight.

        • Xaninho says:

BJJ is alot of joint manipulation as well. Aikido does have several strikes. So there certainly are several techniques that can be quite useful in mma.

Same as wrestling, that’s not a real martial art, but the takedowns are useful in mma.

  2. Xaninho says:

At least he didn’t answer his phone this time…

  3. grandma killer says:

no one gives a fuck what you say, think, or do sengay seagal. I hope you choke on a chicken bone and die you overweight homo.

  4. ballsackface says:

this guy needs to go and fucking rot

  5. stan871 says:

And the douche knob of the year goes to….. Steven Segal!!!! Congrats buddy, go ask Stallone if you can get the role u want in Expendables 3 now and see what he says.

  6. WrestlingRules says:

This wife beater would post fight spin his mother giving him head to say he planned the whole thing…lowlife…..

  7. Holyshitballs says:

Seagal did infact suggest that him and Anderson have practicing moves that are almost considered illegal but they’re legal… Coincidence that Chael got hit by an almost illegal knee. Kinda funny…

  8. antwon says:

i really hate this guy he got knocked out by some old stunts man yet hes soooooooooo tuff

    • Malik says:

Wrong actor pimp…that was van damme, and the body guard was also a trained martial artist…but also an actor,(the tough Italian guy from OZ

      • Mike says:

Right actror! It was gene lebelle! Who is also a stunt man but a awesome Judo black belt and all out destroyer! See him in Ronda rouseys corner and he chocked out segal back in the day on the set of a film apparently! But segal is still legit and hard as fucking nails!

  9. Mike b says:

seagal fucking go away man…shit enough is enough.

  10. Yoo Focker says:

Thank you Sensei, it’s great when one great fighter validates another great fighters victory. Now I can move on with my life. Grabbing of the shorts, vaseline on the body, and the knee that missed Sonnen’s head were great moves to show your champion.

  11. Kjtrlt says:

Seagal. I don’t know what to think of him. Is he full of it? If so, why does Silva’s crew have him around. Mow did he get involved with. Them in the first place? Doesn’t make sense. Of all the people to have on your crew, and it’s Anderson fricken silva, not some newbie desperate for a coach. Head scratcher.

And that knee, same knee that Rashad hit Tito with. Just from closer in, and a but more obscured by Sonnen’s arms. Was all chest.

  12. punchkick says:

stop trying to be relevant bro

  13. cheap says:

i love how helwani gets these interviews every time anderson fights. let’s face it, only the guys in anderson’s camp really know what is going on with this relationship.

  14. Tim Taylor says:

Het Sensei…I just woke up with a hard one…Any predicktions on what im gonna do about it>???..Yes, ur right again..Im gonna slap u in the teeth with it!!!! Way to go, sengay!!!

  15. El Gran Chingon says:

We this and we that… Segal has a frog up his ass.

  16. TRUTH says:

I can’t believe that some people think Steven Segal is legit. He’s a fat fucking joke, plain and simple. I’m sure if Anderson’s coaches spoke English they would be pissed. Akido is not a combat art it’s not meant to be one, it’s closer to Tai Chi than BJJ. So stop drinking the kool-aid they did not plan for Chael to throw a dumb ass spinning back fist and fall. The guys a douche, Anderson was in trouble in the first round he showed heart to come back and get the win. That should be the point not that he was relaxed when Chael had full mount, that shows his complete and total ignorance for MMA. And yeah wrestling is not a martial art nor is boxing they’re combat sports.

  17. ElScotto says:

    Says it all really…

  18. ali Scott says:

    Says it all really…

  19. Da bat says:

I hate the way Ariel keeps referring to the first round as “dominating”, Chael exerted a bunch of energy and no pregresion.. Maybe he’s still refferring to the first fight??
