I remember just a while back when George Sotutopulous (G-SOT) had like a 6 fight winning streak in LW division or Jim Miller 7 fight streak, and countless otehr with 4-5 win streaks. All never got there shots because of Frankie “REMATCH” Edgar but now Pettis thinks he should get a title shot with what 2 fight win streak one of which was against and unranked fighter which was a split decision and he just recently lost to Guida. Why do most LW have to beat 8 in row but Pettis only has to win a few with a recent loss? Big mistake for Pettis to fight Cerrone. Cerrone is bigger, stronger, and has more experience and power. Sorry i think Pettis is overrrated and he is coming off a recent shoulder surgery and noone knows if his striking will ever be the same. Shoulder surgury at such a young age is a really bad sign and leaves a big ? mark with his future IMO.

I totally agree. Diaz pretty much made him look like a lost puppy with no defense.Pettis has earned his chance to fight much better fighters then..Cowboy..lol We will see and then hopefully the tards that think otherwise will hush it!
In his defense, Pettis was promised an immediate titleshot since he was the reigning WEC champ when UFC bought the WEC. He was the champ, but got sidelined by Frankie ‘the rematch’ Edgar’s crap. He took the fight against Guida instead and didn’t expect Guida would LnP himself to a decision. He came back strong and beat Stephens and Lauzon after that.
I truly believe Pettis deserves the shot.

Before the Pettis-Guida fight I didn’t pick a favorite because I liked both fighters. That changed after the lame display of LnP by Guida.
It wasn’t Frankie’s fault. The fight btw him and Maynard was called a draw, and they had to have the 3rd fight. Pettis didnt want to wait, and to that “ill-fated” fight with Guida. Props to him for not wanting to wait, but maybe he should have, Then we might not be having this discussion..

As cerrone started as a kickboxer, he is actually very well rounded.. He has awesome stand up, great takedowns and great JJ.. Beats you up stand, takes you to the ground then submits you.. And not to mention he has never been KO’d or TKO’d, not even Diaz could put him away with all those punches!
Check Siver fight he basically knocked him out and chose to jump on for the sub …. I imagine he’s done that quite a bit

Its not Edgar’s fault it took that many times before somebody could beat him… If the weigh ins were on fight day, he still would’ve champ… He’s fighting at his own weight, and beat the guys sent at him… Even Benson knew he would have to put on extra weight to have a chance of beating him.

YES!!!! I have been saying all along that Pettis should have to face Cerrone before getting a shot at Diaz or the title! IMO Diaz would whoop Pettis’ ass!! People downplay Cerrone, but he was on like a 7 fight winstreak at one point with a few decisions over players that were quite a ways above him in rank. If Pettis can dominate Cerrone, he should get a shot against Diaz or the current title holder at that time.
Pettis has a really good groundgame so I don’t understand why people think Cerrone can just submit Pettis. If it goes to the ground I see Pettis submitting him.
I like Cerrone a lot, but this won’t be an easy fight for him. In fact I’d give the edge to Pettis. He’s much faster in the stand-up with unorthodox techniques and his groundgame is just as good as Cerrone’s, maybe even better.
As his stand up is more flashy and has speed but Cerrone has a more pin point stand up technique.. So i couldnt say one is better than the other accept Pettis has more KO;s.. And I wouldn’t say Pettis’s ground game is better than Cerrone’s.. Cerrone easily has better wrestling and possibly has better JJ.. There is a possibility of Pettis submitting him off his back but I still give the ground game to Cerrone.. It will be a great fight cause they both are great on their feet and both good on the ground in different ways.. I think if Cerrone beats Melvin and can fight in November they should fight for the number 1 spot to face the winner of Nate vs. Bendo/Edgar..
