VIDEO | Overeem Admits Underestimating ‘Bigfoot’ Cost Him, Says He Learned His Lesson

“[Antonio Silva] knocked me out cold is what happened. I think there was a bit of underestimation. Bigfoot Silva is a very dangerous guy. He’s got heavy bones. He’s heavy. That was a costly price to pay. In the meantime, I’ve learned all the lessons I could have. I took some off to think over everything that wasn’t right. In my time off I’ve been fixing everything and went back at it again. It’s been four months now in camp. I feel good. I feel great and I look forward to fighting again in 12 more days.”

  1. Justa Thought says:

This condition has been contagious lately. Sometimes though a loss like this can be good for a fighter’s future success.

    • Kenny Powers says:

Yeah he seems a lot less cocky now. I think it was the best thing for him. Just like Anderson, they were both obviously winning their fights, got careless and KO’d by the lesser skilled guy. Sometimes its what needs to happen

  2. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Yeah he needed a humbling experience. He got too cocky and overconfident.

  3. Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Overeem didn’t do anything wrong in that fight. Silva getting beat up just never quit. Overeem was gassing out and got tired and lazy, it can happen to anybody. Then he got caught by a punch Silva kept throwing. Overeem needs TRT for his Low-T and some cardio. That’s it. I’d love to see Overeem pound on JDS soon.

    • switchbox says:

Overeem fought with his hands down and chin up. He deserved that KO for not finishing Silva instead of toying with him. Maybe he will come back smarter, just like spider is gonna do against weidman.

      • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Dude, he was gassed due to Low-T and conditioning, not toying. It happens. Now, Silva will be completely beat up by Wediman. Worse than before. Think GSP vs Penn 2. Not sure about Overeem yet.
