The fight between Marquardt and Woodley fight is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.
And it shows the level of a true veteran in Marquardt who displaid true mastery in all the distances of the fight.
Unfortunatly for him he will still be remembered as the cheater.
Anyway, I would love to see him challenging GSP
Yeah he looked awsome.. he didnt really give anderson silva much of a fight but he would definitly challenge GSP.. still would lose tho.. But DAMN that was a nice KO Marquardt is one of the most well rounded fighters in MMA
Marquardt suspension was lifted in 3 weeks, so he wasn’t cheating like Overeem/etc. it seems – otherwise he would’ve got the standard 6/9/12 month or whatever penalty, no?
May be you’re right (I hope so)
Because Marquardt is a good model of what an MMA fighter should be :
- A complete set of technique and strategie
- Humble and calm person
- A good sportsmanship (I remember when he stopped hitting Maia and Woudley after knocking them out)
Hopefully he’ll be back on track and may be have a run for the UFC Welterweight title
But I agree that there is no way to compare him to Overeem. Because in my opinion, Overeem’s dominance was mainly due to his size (and thus to PED) not to his skills
