Weidman is a very competent wrestler; it only takes a competent wrestler to take down Silva and control him. Weidman has considerably better BJJ than Chael Sonnen (but seriously how hard is that), and Weidman is far more capable standing up.
While Weidman isn’t as good a takedown and hump artist as Chael P. Sonnen he is good enough to make this fight very, very interesting.
Georges is just pointing out facts here; Weidman is capable of taking him down and actually doing damage, of actually finishing the fight, which is true; does it mean he will? No, it doesn’t; not at all.
He may have beat a fat Mark Munoz but Munoz is still the big bad wrestler they have at Black House, it’s entirely possible that what GSP is saying is true.
Having said all of that, Anderson is a finisher and deadly, anything can happen in this fight.
Feel GSP is just repping his own and trying to make it all interesting with Silva, people talk so much about GSP I think he’s just testing the waters here trying to stir up the interest.

What has Silva done to make you think he has “lost a step”? Also I recall Silva being the one saying he would fight Jones and not the other way around. They both have fights lined up so it’s not like he can “step up” right now. Silva will fight Jones or GSP and win if the UFC sets it up, just like he has fought and won over any other opponent that has been put in front of him. All people that say Silva ducks fighters are ridiculous. Everyone says that he was ducking Weidman and Sonnen but guess what? He fought Sonnen and beat him twice and now he’s fighting Weidman. Everyone can lose there is no doubt about that, but after the skills that Silva has displayed in the cage how cant anyone doubt him anymore? There are things that Weidman can do that can pose a problem for Silva but it’s nothing that Silva hasn’t seen before. Silva by KO/TKO or sub round 2.
I respect your opinion, I just disagree with it. I just noticed how easily Sonnen was able to take Silva down and Weidman is just about as good as Sonnen. Plus Weidman is younger and faster and stronger. He is just more athletic and Silva is old and can’t move as quickly. Go back to his Leben Franklin fights and look at his movement then look at his recent fights. He’s noticeably slower. I just see Weidman KOing Silva in the 3rd. You root for your guy and I’ll root for mine. Do not be fooled the fighter who moves the best will win and I think that is Weidman by a big margin.
U do realize that Silva and GSP are closer in size than Silva and Jones?.Jones is a oversized LHW and should be fighting at HW.Jones weighs about 240lbs usually and has a reach of 84″reach..GSP walks around over 200lbs and has a reach at 76″,And Silvas reach is 77″ and is 6-2″ same as Condit…and mind you Silva weighed in at 203 for the Bonnar fight.Makes no sense,you say GSP shouldn’t fight Silva,but Silva should fight freakishly much larger Jones.Double standards there pal
