Broken bones in mixed martial arts happen from time to time.

However, it’s rare to see a fighter break an opponent’s limb when holding a submission like when Frank Mir broke Tim Silvia’s arm at UFC 48 with an armbar. In the case of a broken arm or leg, it usually happens in a freak incident such as when Anderson Silva broke his leg throwing a kick at Chris Weidman at UFC 168.

Here, we take a look at a similar painful situation to Silva’s that took place at the Pyramid fights in Arkansas over the weekend.

Matthew Brooks took on David Johnson in an amateur bout and things ended with Brooks having to go to the hospital after breaking his leg while throwing a low kick at Johnson.

Pyramid Fights gave an update on their Facebook page saying that Brooks was headed into surgery on Sunday for his injury.

Here is to wishing Matthew Brooks a quick and full recovery!
