In 2005, Floyd Mayweather Jr brought his 33-0 professional record into a highly anticipated PPV fight with WBC super lightweight champion Arturo Gatti in a fight which served as Mayweather’s PPV debut. The card, dubbed ‘Thunder & Lightning’ saw Mayweather repeatedly launch verbal attacks at his opponent leading up to the fight.

When the two stepped into the Octagon, Mayweather dominated the fight, landing clean, hard punches on the champ, who was left with no answer on offense, or defense. Ultimately, between the 6th and 7th rounds, Gatti’s corner stopped the fight on the stool after they had seen enough.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

Fast forward twelve years, and Mayweather is of course currently gearing up for his highly anticipated superfight with Conor McGregor on August 26th, where Mayweather will look to secure his 50th professional win.

Ahead of that fight, check out the highlights from Mayweather’s first PPV fight with Arturo Gatti above!
