Video: Chael Sonnen Offers Loser Leaves Town Match To Anderson Silva Following UFC 136 Victory

If Frankie Edgar had not knocked out Gray Maynard in such impressive fashion this past Saturday to defend his world title and put to rest a trilogy that has been several months in the making, more of the world would be talking about the “Oregon gangster”, Chael Sonnen, and his call out to Anderson Silva following his victory over Brian Stann.

Never one to beat around the bush Chael Sonnen delivered a statement to Anderson Silva this past weekend during his post fight interview with Joe Rogan that suggested that the loser of a proposed rematch between the two either, A. leave the division or B. leave the organization.

After being out of action for fourteen months the widely regarded number two middleweight in the world delivered an impressive performance over a top contender this past weekend to earn himself another shot at Anderson Silva’s UFC middleweight title.

The two last met in August of 2010 and in case you were living under a rock, Anderson Silva had one of the most amazing comeback victories in UFC history to retain his UFC title. Sonnen was able to dictate the pace and location of the fight for nearly four-and-a-half rounds but failed to close out the champion in the final frame and got submitted via triangle choke with just a couple minutes left in the match.

Many point to a nagging rib injury suffered by the champ during the bout and claim that a rematch will be as one sided as the first fight but that it will be the champion, Anderson Silva, proving the first performance was a fluke.

UFC president Dana White is on board and ready to book the rematch as soon as Silva is ready and recovered from a reported shoulder injury, so this fight is all but a lock. The talk will soon be over, but until that time, the MMA world will surely be split on deciding who to pick in this epic rematch for the UFC’s middleweight championship.

Check out Chael Sonnen’s call out and challenge in the video clip below.

Sonnen should get paid double for being such a good promoter…..who cares who wins, Im watchi ng reguardless

  2. Jimmy says:

Chael the O.G. of MMA .

  3. Brandon says:

I truly believe that Chael can outstrike and outwrestle the most boring fighter in the world, GreaseSP.
Ughh, UFC 129 was ruined by that french canadian cheater. That fucking fight made me vomit.

  4. Xaninho says:

As some of the regulars on here might already know….

I don’t like Sonnen at all, but that was an impressive win. I can’t wait till Silva vs. Sonnen part II. Cause after that impressive win he was just the disrespectful, loudmouth douchebag again.

  5. Joe says:

anderson had no idea what he was saying lol

  6. DBKlein69 says:

i cant get enough of that video! lol how priceless the look on andyboy’s face! he looked so embarrassed! that was great. even better was the thunderous roar from the jam-packed toyota center in houston. yes andy, u won the fight, but everyone in that building knows that U GOT YOUR PRISSY LITTLE ASSS KICKED. and that, my friends, is why i love this sport :)

  7. steven horgan says:

rewatchin that i felt sorry for silva, because he will do his talkin in the cage but you could tell he was embarassed and probaly wanted to say something,he should of confronted sonnen..i like both fighters and i know chael does have some respect for silva but he wants to whoop him..and hyping fights is his thing..sonnen wont be as dominant next fight because silva definetly wasent a 100 percent last time..silva made a statement saying if it was all about strength the elephant would be the king of the jungle not the lion..looks like sonnen rewriting the laws of the jungle

  8. rayed says:

That was a bad ass win and it will happen again!

I always had a theroy that people are so intimidated by Silva that they freeze and end up getting there ass beat.
Don’t get me wrong though, he is obviously a great fighter.. but chael is just as great. And if he had submission defense he would be better then Anderson!!!

    • roberto says:

Agreed first they freeze then they get beaten, but that is just part of the equation, they wouldn´t freeze if Anderson was not a great fighter.

Okami was a perfect example of that, I would say okami looked defeated from the get go and the spider predator recognized that. Problem with sonnen is that he is not intimidated, thus psicological game doesnt count and we are up to a great rematch.

Oh and the match doesn´t end until the last round, if you are on top for 23 minutes and can´t finish someone, but get submitted last minute, then you didn´t do all that well.

  9. Ly-er_Ly-er says:

Iono bout u guys, but I was getting that “WWE vibe” from his lil antic! Not good for the “sport”! But I guess this guy really knows how to market himself & secure a title shot tho! Well if he doesn’t win the title this time, I guess he can pull a Ken Shamrock. LOL

  10. Gogs says:

Ufc getting more like WWE everyday, fuck it TLC match

    • Andri says:

Really? You should go back and see Tito’s shit from when he was the champ.

      • Ly-er_Ly-er says:

Well that’s true, but atleast it toned down greatly from how it was before! I’m so glad they got rid of the elaborate entrances!!! I just hope this Sonnen thing was just a hiccup and now he can just get back to trash talking, instead of issuing ultimatum matches! Freaken-A if I see one “steel chair” in his hand, I’m so done w/ the ufc! LOL

  11. ty says:

sonnen is so desperate for a title shot hes gonna ger kicked out of the ufc to get one …guy is a douche why should he pass hendo or sho gun or anyone elese who was fighting the past 14 months n not on the sideline for trt …he almost beat silva but who cares he still lost plain n simple he fuckin lost like a clown n still calls him out like wow go do some more trt then come back n talk shit

    • DBKlein69 says:

he almost beat silva but who cares? ty, that’s the thing ur missing here. everyone cares. everyone wants to see that rematch. everyone knows silva got lucky. everyone knows silva got domimated, manhandled and abused. everyone. sure, u and all the other silva nut-huggers will deny this out loud. but u know it in ur heart. u will never look at anderson the same. u dont wanna see that rematch because u dont want silva’s legacy to be ruined by someone u dont like. well ty, unfortunately for u, it looks like that is inevitable.

      • Xaninho says:

Everyone knows Sonnen CHEATED! All you Sonnen nuthuggers keep forgetting about that and the fact Sonnen TAPPED OUT like a little bitch.

        • Andri says:

Actually Sonnen just epic-failed on his paperwork

he is still taking the same drugs and they have been approved for him.

        • Xaninho says:

So he found himself a bogus “doctor” willing to sign his name under a bullshit prescription huh? I already thought he looked roïded fighting Stann, but then I thought naaahhh they’re checking up on him. So now he’s legally roïded…nice.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

maybe anderson has lower levels of testosterone do you know for a fact that he doesnt? because if he does have a lower amount and does not receive the same treatment would that now make it an unfair advantage? what you’re suggesting is that everyone be tested rigorously and as much as needed pre fight to ensure that each fighter is fighting on a level playing field. there needs to be impartial doctors who administer the tests and submit results to the athletic commissions to ensure no slight level of advantage for either fighter. is this the current situation of pre fight tests? no, it’s not. so why should sonnen be the one to benefit from a loophole in the system? if sonnen wants to have this type of therapy then the ufc should monitor both fighters with neutral doctors and see if any fighter really needs this so called treatment.

        • mmaislandjunkie says:

but why would it be on the fighter to administer these tests? should it not be the responsibility of the organization promoting their events? all im saying is sonnen is imo diagnosing himself, having his doctor sign off on it like a doctor prescibes medical marijuana and then convinces people unknowledgable of such treatment that he in fact needs it. the simple fact that the ufc does not monitor this type of treatment is mind blowing because they help promote the temptation to those who want to seek an edge over their competition such as the chael sonnens. all im saying is if you think it is evening out the playing field for sonnen how can you prove it isnt tilting the field to sonnens advantage?

      • acarver31 says:

I’m a huge Anderson silva fan, and he did get dominated by sonnen the first fight, buy for one sonnen cheated. That’s why he was suspended for a long period of time. And secondly, silva didn’t get lucky. It’s skill. Silva took advantage and won the fight. Thats like sayin everyone gets lucky that has a submission victory or a knockout, cause someone has to make a mistake.

      • mmaislandjunkie says:

better to lose to sonnen than matt serra lol. but the thing is he didnt lose he beat him. gsp sucks.

    • Lambo says:

You realize you are talking shit on him for his Testosterone Replacement Treatment, RIght??? Then you mention Dan’s name??? Also another fighter to use the Treatment??? A little Biased don’t you think? And when was the last time Shogun fought MW? I seem at a bit of a memory loss… please enlighten me

  12. Dosan says:

WTF? It’s like a script from WWE. What a steroid abusing tool.

    Anyways, Stann disappointed my wallet.

  13. Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

I don’t care if this reminds people of WWE. The point was to get people excited about the fight. A REAL FIGHT. If the fighters want to talk trash about each other it only makes the match better. It is called hyping a fight!

I hope Chael is talking out his ass on the stipulations of the match because I don’t want either of them to leave the Octagon forever. But I am sure Anderson will do whatever he wants regardless of the outcome. As far as him moving out of the middle weight division, I hope that happens because Anderson has gotten too comfortable in the MW division. He should move to LHW and deliver a front snap kick to Jon Jones face.

  14. Justa Thought says:

Sonnen promotes fights, but he’s bad for the sport. You guys with the WWE comments are on the mark. My pals agree. I’m pretty sure a healthy Silva finishes Sonnen in 2 rounds or less. If Sonnen beats Silva…… BIG DEAL. Silva is still the most dominant fighter the UFC has seen thus far and Chael will never be able to TALK himself into that kind of success. Always those that will be jealous of anyone doing well and feel they deserve that kind of success for themselves. Some folks out there are also still impressed by tough talk. Anything to win – PED’s? Unethical business practices? Fact is: Chael Sonnen will never be an Anderson Silva, he’ll just be another forgettable name and a footnote in the history of MMA. Silva’s legacy is already cemented! Inevitable indeed.

  15. Yosamiteesus says:

I’ve been saying this shit for years now. Between the steroids and the WWE like trash talk, Chael Sonnen does’nt belong in the octagon with Amderson Silva, he belongs in a steel cage match with Randy Orton and John Cena. Just sayin……

  16. Sergio says:

Cheel tap out that it! game over!

He has 11 looses this score is very average, Silva defend his title for so many times…
he is a joke, he’s angry came from the PADS cheated MDF!

  17. Jmad says:

Yea the way he was talking was stupid. “Anderson Silva, you suck.” – Sonnen is a joke, ya can wrestle but that was pretty lame, hopefully other fighters wont start doing that too

  18. Jeff says:

Go back to kindergarten Sonnen! Started to like him but he’s still a douchebag. Hope Anderson KO’s you in the 1st round!

  19. ty says:

it would be different if sonnen was 7 – 2 or some sht like that but hes 6 – 4 n he couldnt beat mia silva made mia look like a peice he should at least face him first ….just dont agree with a guy getting a title shot right away after beating a decent fighter in stann..and just cause he calls him out ..silva fought with a messed rib n sonnen did cheat

  20. steven horgan says:

all this wwe hype is entertaining fans, putting asses in seats and got sonnen a title shot it or not but when its time to fight he fights ,thats not wwe and thats the main thing we enjoy so who cares..he does deserve this fight with silva he just walked through brian stann a top contender, and with hendo he hasent fought in the middle weight division in a while and lost his last fight at that weight thats why sonnens ahead, another thing chael did dominate silva but silva came back showed hart and got the win that wasent ryan m your the ass dick head, thanks artemis

  21. Calabama says:

I don’t think it was as much embarrassment as it was, “Are you shitting me? Is he really doing this right now?”

  22. mmaislandjunkie says:

    1. Anderson is not invincible, he has lost in the past and came back from losing rounds in several of his ufc fights.

    2. Chael Sonnen is recognized (begrudgingly by many such as myself) as the number two mw in the ufc. If he can beat Vitor I would concede with that ranking.

    3. 3/4 of the people on this site and overall internet mma websites agree that Anderson Silva is the better fighter between the two, not only by accomplishments and skill set but as an overall citizen of the earth. The other 1/4 support the sport for the pure entertainment of it, regardless of the antics and methods of harassment used by fighters with no class such as Chael Sonnen.

  23. mmaislandjunkie says:

I referenced doctors signing off on medical marijuana prescriptions as a measure of how doctors do not follow protocol to the tee and can sometimes simply sign off on things that they know would not garner attention from law enforcement. i am sure you have heard of doctors signing off on prescriptions such as pro wrestler chris benoit’ doctor who recently received ten years for his involvement for illegally distributing prescription drugs to patients. or if you need an example closer to mma how about shane carwin’s pharmacist who was sentenced to four years for his involvement with illegal prescriptions. i am sure you are not so naive to think that a guy like sonnen with all his indiscretions would be immune to the possibility of using trt treatment as nothing more than a treatment to enhance his performances in the octagon.

  24. mmaislandjunkie says:

the sad truth about this is that even if chael loses a rematch the possibility of him truly leaving the ufc for good is slim to none, i base this on the pure fact that chael is full of shitt.
