VIDEO | Anthony Pettis: I’m in the UFC; I Want a UFC Title Shot | UFC NEWS
Anthony Pettis is a former World Extreme Cagefighting champion and carries that mantle proudly with him into the UFC. He was initially slated to fight for the UFC lightweight belt when he moved over to the Octagon, but circumstances beyond his control sidelined that fight and he’s now on the sidelines with an injury waiting for his next fight to come down the pike.
There have been rumors of a fight between Pettis and Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez, but Pettis says he is focused first and foremost on the UFC belt.

Although Pettis is good…..I think he would do better in Strikeforce. And just might be the one to take Gilberts belt.
Why would he go to strikeforce? He one of the top LW in the world.. Just a year and half ago he beat the current UFC champ.. Just took out Lauzon in the first round and could see him beating any top guy in the UFC! He does have a good chance to beat Melendez but then what? Be in the same position as Melendez and fighting no competition?
He lost to Guida!
He got ‘game planned’ by Guida and the Greg Jackson crew. He’s learned from that loss and upped his wrestling.
Let him fight Gray Maynard then.
No shit. Anybody from the UFC would do better in SF. Theres less competition. Pettis will have the belt some day though in UFC. Mark my words.
No way in hell he’s taking that belt from Bendo. He won’t be able to get through Nate either….sorry Marcus, you’re delusional! Jusssayyin!
He has already beaten bendo ..”Dipchit”
All the top 5 contenders can beat Melendez. He’s very overrated.
Josh Thompson beat melendez, he is extremely over rated
Pettis should fight Maynard! That would be a good fight. And hopefully Nate Diaz gets the winner of Bendo v Edgar. Which I think Bendo will take easily again.
NO SHlT. Anybody from UFC would do better in SF. Theres less competition.
Pettis is a very elite striker but, he’s been unable to “show”case his ability in the UFC just yet. Let this guy go into deep water and he’ll rise to the ocassion. His match with Bendo has to be a top ten fight.
He is NOT an elite striker, K1 strikers are elite strikers.
+1
everyone who is in the UFC wants a title shot….
No shit sherlock, why do you think they join the UFC for?
