Velasquez Wondering What The Hold Up Is With Dos Santos Rematch | UFC News

By Jamie McAllister
Cain Velasquez comments in an interview with ‘Inside MMA’.

Velasquez defeated Antonio Silva at UFC 146 and it had been looking like he would go on to challenge Junior Dos Santos for his Heavyweight Title. The rematch had been rumored to take place at UFC 152 however no date has been set.

“Right now, I’m just getting ready and waiting for a date. We don’t really know what’s going on with the dos Santos thing. The speculation that I was hurt — I got an x-ray to show people that I’m not. There’s speculation that he’s hurt, maybe. I dunno what’s going on. I’m just getting ready and waiting for a date for me and him to fight.”

Velasquez faced Junior Dos Santos at UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos losing his UFC Heavyweight Title after being finished in the first round.

“The thing with the last fight and this one, this time, what we’re gonna do different is actually attack him and actually fight him. We didn’t do that last time. I didn’t do what I was supposed to do, with the gameplan, and I definitely paid for it. I’m not making the mistake again with him.”

The loss was the first in Velasquez professional career moving him to (9-1). Velasquez admits he is haunted by the loss and wants to avenge it.

“It’s always playing in my head. He’s my one loss, and I wanna go back and avenge it. Just knowing what you did wrong, I mean, I definitely look back at the fight. I just have to learn from it and move on.”

When asked if a date had been set for the bout Velasquez admitted he had not heard anything and is wondering what the hold up is.

“They really haven’t said anything as of right now. I was just wondering what the hold up was. They thought that I was hurt, and I went ahead and kinda quieted those things down. I’m just waiting for a date.”

  5. maurice says:

sorry cain. i think they r bout to book cain vs reem or cain vs werdum for number 1 spot. its painfully obvious cain shouldnt be granted a rematch after a win over (big foot) the overrated freak show. jds has already been calling for dates for the fight, but that also fell on deaf ears. looks like the ufc has other plans.

  6. Xaninho says:

LOL! Brownie wants to talk piece of shit. Jds will take that ass out on a date, wine and dine, then **** that ass up at night. Mexican lol, disgust me.

  8. Coffee409 says:

I never knew so many racist assholes posted here….. Lame.

  9. AN says:

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe it has to do with the fact that you’ve only fought once since he oneshot KO’d you for the belt?

  10. Brown Pride says:

    **** YOU racist dumb ****s!

  11. B says:

It’s funny cause Cain is American… he was born in Cali yet people are so racist toward him. I’m ashamed to be white sometimes. Every American has roots in other countries… unless you’re a ****ing Native American… so why single him out?

  12. KIDD433 says:

That ain’t the real Xaninho. He wouldn’t say no bullshit like that.

  13. Drew says:

Everyone who dropped a racial slur… Cain would run u down to the ground and knock u the **** out within less then 60 seconds… Mans a millionare, family man, sends his kid to a nice school probably already has kid college education in the bank… Ur just a disgrace to whatever nationality u r for saying shit like that. Sidenote we all love Jds but Cain is winning this one
