Velasquez Responds To Boxer Fury’s Challenge, Talks Overeem & More | UFC NEWS

UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez touches on two hot topics surrounding his name.

The first of which comes way of the video post above where the champ discusses the PED testing and alleged use by Alistair Overeem.

The second comes way of an ESPN article where he responds to the highly publicized challenges coming out of the UK by a boxer that goes by the name of Fury.

Here it is:

“I didn’t know who he was until this,” Velasquez told “I think he’s using my name to gain publicity, which he has done, everybody is bringing it up.”

Fury issued the challenge via Twitter.

“I challenge u to fight all in in a cage or ring! It could be billed as the man vs midget lets get it on!” Fury tweeted.

Velasquez smirked a bit when reminded of the insult, but he wasn’t taking the bait.

“I’m not a boxer,” he said. “I’m a mixed martial artist, and if he wants to fight, he can go into the UFC and work his way up like everybody else does. Nothing is given to you in this world.

“To me, it’s like don’t talk about it, go ahead and do it. That’s all I have to say about that.”

Ahhhhh Cain is a cool dude! real classy and fights like a machine. Much respect to the dude

  2. Jujitsu Player says:

Cain is all class! He would ruin this bum in the cage…

  3. Phatkeith says:

I’m from Manchester, England and there’s loads of hype around Tyson Fury.
In a piss poor HW boxing division he’s doin pretty well!
He’s better with his mouth than his fists.
He’s already started ducking fights,(David Price…who is s**t hot), and someone’s gonna knock him the f**k out sooner or later!
Cain would smash him all over the cage, the guy’s an animal!!!

  4. AnotherFan says:

Another boxer? Another boxer want some taste of mma action, how many james toney coming? Mma not boxing, boxing not mma, very different…

  5. Dude says:

I hope stop trying stuff like that. Its 2 very different sports, and of coruse listen, between a boxer, and a boxer/wrestler/jiujitsu/muay thai/karate/etc. of course the mma guy is gnna win. Not to discredit boxers at all, but mmaguys will take it to the ground easily. Its just normal, hey train for everything. Stand up vs stand up ? Boxer s a good chance, but when the kicks starts to fly, its getting hader. If i was a boxer, i wouldnt want to fight an mma fighter of my caliber

Cain, please shut this dumb ass off!!!

  8. Drew says:

Cain is one of the those classy guys that kids can look up to and that’s a good thing nowadays mostly, Cain would beat the reem, this isn’t the only reason why Cain will win but cains gas tank is superior to all. Hats off to JDS for stickn it out for 5 rounds with Cain

  9. Dhannie says:

After watching his fights with Brock Lesnar, Antonio Silva and the rematch with Junior Dos Santos make no mistake, Cain might be an “innocent” looking guy but he is a lean mean machine with an enormous appetite for hurting his opponent… Fury will just be smashed!

  10. Time To Wrestle says:

It all depends on the venue. I agree in a cage Cain or really any mma-er will beat any boxer. But you put Cain in a ring with Tyson and its lights out for Cain. A mediocre boxer would kick Cain’s ass in a ring. Tyson would keep Cain on the outside with jabs and then finish him off in rounds 3 or so. Cain is a mediocre boxer and sucks if he can’t in close and grab someone to the ground. Don’t be fooled, in striking alone, boxing rules!! It’s the top of the food chain.
