U.N. Conference In Brazil Could Delay UFC 147 Event / Silva vs. Sonnen Rematch

UFC president Dana White announced tonight at the UFC on FUEL TV 2 post-fight press conference that they may be forced to reschedule and/or change the location of “UFC 147: Silva vs. Sonnen II”
The reason behind the possible change is a United Nations Conference scheduled for Rio on June 20-22.
“We’re working on it, it’s still a work in progress. The problem down in Rio right now is they’re having a big United Nations convention down there, so there’s some stuff going on, we’re working through it trying to figure this whole thing out,” said the UFC president.
The conference is a big resource hog on any city it lands in and as such could be a logistical nightmare for the UFC’s planned soccer stadium show to go on during the same weekend. Not only will city officials have their hands full but travelers may find that they have no place to stay while trying to attend one of the two events.
“Don’t know, we’re waiting to hear back, we’re trying to figure this whole thing out. The problem is that first of all they don’t like the idea of us coming at the same time as this United Nations convention’s going on, the other problem is hotel rooms. Most of the hotel rooms are being taken up,” said White.
“We don’t think, we know, that the Chael Sonnen/Anderson Silva fight it’s one of the biggest sporting events this year in the world, so we need to make sure (there’s room) especially when you’re doing an 80,000-seat soccer stadium. There better be some hotel rooms… Hopefully, we’ll get this thing done within the next few days, one way or the other.”

if silva doesn’t mind not being in brazil, go to Wembley Stadium, that would be sick !!!
you stupid idiots they already sold out the staduim and sold all the tickets.,..and silva wants to lose his belt and then retire in brazil
Ever heard of a refund? It has happened before. Also, Silva isn’t losing his belt in this fight. And, if he wanted to retire so badly…why would he take a fight with the intent to lose, rather than retiring on top? Your logic is flawless sir, lol!
how could it be sold out before they even started selling tickets you dumb shit???
Well I think you’ve done it. You are now officially the dumbest mother****er ever to leave his comment on BJPenn.com….Congratulations!
I think the this event will not gonna be held in Brazil because Chael is begging for Dana to not to do it in Brazil because he knows that he will gonna get lynched specially if he win.
You have horrible grammar, and you are wrong.
This is just , easu way to rescue Chael from being killed by the brazilians. Danna, Chael talked a lot of things about Brazil and its people; do not protect him. Make him go to Brazil and face the country he insulted.
Can you say “COWBOYS STADIUM”. You have Texas, and three surrounding states with a lot of love for mma, all within driving distance. Not to mention everyone that will fly in. There’s plenty of motels, and we would probably get to Watch Anderson vs Chael, instead of seeing the UFC on one of those to shocking for tv videos where a crazy mob starts a riot in a soccer stadium over a sporting event.
Yeah ofcourse again with Sonnen’s USA chanting fans. He had his fight in USA now the rematch has to happen in Brazil.
Chael is gonna get lynched!!! I hope not but that’s what i fear of.
This just gives CHEATER Sonnen more time to get all JUICED back up
They are doing everything to make this happen in US.
I am not Brazilian, but this fight won’t be the same if is not in Brazil.
They are arranging an excuse to change this to US.
If this happen plus OVEREEM fighting Juiced, I will never watch UFC again. NEVER.
That will be fine with everyone. Take your whining ass on somewhere and the world sill be a better place.
I get what your saying. That would definitely kill the excitement of watching the UFC or MMA for me if Overeem still fought JDS.
And yet everybody is excited to see Silva fight fael testosteronnen.
I don’t to sound like a hypocrite but it seems like he isn’t abusing anymore. He actually looks a lot smaller in interviews compared to interview he’s done in the past and he did serve his suspension.
He did look smaller in the Bisping fight, and it was noticeable his testosterone ratio’s were probably normal too, cause he lost that fight. But I wonder what he will look like leading up to the Silva-Sonnen II fight.
I bet he will be juicing during his camp and calculate the cycle so he pisses reasonable levels before the fight though. After the fight against Bisping he must have realized Silva will beat him up if he doesn’t juice himself up.
Doesn’t matter where the fight happens. Chaels still getting his ass kicked
Forget Sonnen, if Anderson comes in juiced (and that’s a possibility) the UFC will fall like a house of cards.
