UFC’s Chris Leben: I’m flat broke | UFC NEWS

“Yeah, I’m flat-out broke right now. Being broke sucks. It’s probably one of my biggest things where I just feel terrible. I feel terrible for having put my wife through so much and all because of the poor decisions that I’ve made. The year’s been hard. The year’s been a struggle. The only thing I can say is it’s already happened. It’s water under the bridge. The only thing I can do now is try to make sure it never happens again in the future and prepare for the future now.”

In a recent interview with, UFC middleweight fighter, Chris Leben talked about life after receiving a one-year suspension for a positive drug screening following his last fight.

“The Crippler” is set to return to action this December at UFC 155 for the UFC’s year-end show in Las Vegas. He will be facing Karlos Vemola in his return to action and apparently can really use that win bonus.

Anyone think he can succeed and dig himself out of this financial hardship with one solid “crippling” punch?

I like to watch Leben throw down but I don’t think MMA should be his only source of income. He could probably do movies or television with his personality and look.

    • Shawn says:

I agree. He has to start marketing himself more. As much as I hate to say it, he’s gotta think like fighter AND a businessman if he wants to roll in the dough.

    • Not You says:

Fights and runs his own gym.

    • he can do local advertising for car dealerships, get a loan to build his gym bigger and raise the prices.. He can make shirts..

He has a decent name in the biggest fighting organization in the world, shit this guy can use that in a ton of things..

Also I dont know why people dont invest in a business when they make a good amount of money..

You should never go broke after you are balling for a little bit.. smh

  2. Thurgood Jenkins says:

I thought he owned a successful gym in Hawaii?

    • Kyle Kanuha says:

if i remember correctly chris west told me that it’s chucks gym..pretty sure chris is just training there

    • Mike b says:

I heard the same was on the countdown show when he fought bisbing.they said he was the head trainer?but stuff can definitely change in ur life when 4 yrs pass.

  3. M says:

Awesome name thurgood! He had a really solid string of fights and bonuses but it isn’t easy surviving in Hawaii. Taxes and gas and decent food set you back faskine

    • Magoo, STFU says:

your fckn pizza place not even in business anymore. it sucked ass for 6 months and then you folded! so STFU. Chris would smash your face in if he could. Fck, Xaninho would smash your face in, you mthr fckng fggot.

  4. magoo says:

Your a loser Leben, you’ve made some good money fighting including some nice bonus cheques. Get your shit together and stop partying drinking and the drugs!! How many chances do you think your gonna get? Life’s all about choices start making the right ones, good luck.

  5. TheCrippler says:

As an obvious Leben fan, it really pains me to see him in these situations. He has that potential to do great but he just keeps f***ing up. Hopefully he is able to bounce back from all this.

  6. Bob'O says:

Leben should have had his mind on his money and his money on his mind. 😉 ~Bob’O

  7. vice says:

    should’ve been wining fight

  8. Deathstriker says:

Don’t know how his gym is doing, but he moved it from a really good location by the university to a side street by autobody shops. It also doesn’t help that the UFC GYM BJ Penn just opened not too far away. So far his fighters have been doing OK, nothing special though, they fight mainly on the other islands to avoid exposure or something. He’s definitely pulled out all the marketing stops on his gym with products and contracts.

  9. magoo says:

I have nothing better to do so ill just be a complete douche on

Also I have the biggest vibrator in my ass right now. I wish it was Brock himself ramming me.

  10. MMACRAVER says:

Damn it’s a cycle with this guy. Don’t know how many times I have heard him talk about turning it all around.

Hopefully he has enough fights/wins left in him to make enough for his future.

  11. halfway says:

Some people are just bad with money. Making a ton of money doesn’t help that situation, in fact it can just make it worse.

Should have gotten an accountant or someone to manage all that dough. Good thing he’s looking forward but its a shame to let your family down like that.

  12. John M says:

Hope my boy Leben really shows everyone he’s still serious in this next fight!

  13. stevo the great says:

Yo LEBEN go apply down at the recycling center…….we all know you are great at crushing cans! LOL

  14. Gefco says:

He should go to fund a fighter where fans give money in return for shirts and stuff founded by farias zahabi gsp coach

  15. makaveli says:

Does anybody know what he tested positive for?

  16. Bjj BB says:

Drop to 170 chris!!! I remember you on the ultimate fighter losing to koscheck, you both should be @ 170 not just him, you vs koscheck would be a great 170 fight!!

  17. dave says:

move offf the islands idiot…how the fuk will this idiot retire in 5 years

  18. Quinn says:

Go tell Mitt Romney that you’re not part of that 47% and ask him to hook you up with a job. lol
