Thiago Alves suffers injury, out of UFC 149 | UFC News

By: Chris Taylor
The UFC will be forced to make more changes to it’s upcoming 149 card, as news broke this weekend that Thiago Alves has been forced off with an undisclosed injury. UFC 149 has already been forced to make changes to it’s co-main event, as Thiago Silva pulled out of his scheduled bout with Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua due to a back injury.
Thiago Alves was scheduled to fight Siyar Bahadurzada in a welterweight bout on July 21st in Calgary, Alberta. No replacement opponent has been named for Siyar at this time. Alves was looking to rebound from the submission loss he suffered to Martin Kampmann back at UFC on FX 2. A fight that saw Thiago control the action for the better part of three rounds, before falling victim to Kampmann’s choke. Thiago Alves is 2-4 in his past 6 fights.
The main event of UFC 149 will feature Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against Erik ‘New Breed’ Koch.

lmaooo word. i feel like this entire pass 2 weeks was all mma news on injuries.
No shit. Fitch, Alves, Thiago Silva, Belfort, Cruz, Hunt, Hettes…. That’s just off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s more
Does MMA have more injuries than any other sport? Or does it just seem that way
im thinking it has to be more than baseball or basketball. Football would probably rival mma
I’ve seen a few injuries inthe cage (that stopped fights) but almost every fighter is suspended a month after a fight to recover. It’s crazy. Makes u respect the good fighters who have consistent wins w no injuries
+1 yup
All the fighter pull-outs because of ‘injuries’ are all because of the UFC’s health plan they started not too long ago. Look it up.
