UFC Releases Official Statement On Anderson Silva’s Tragic Injury

Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, released the following statement to BJPENN.COM regarding Anderson Silva’s injury.

“Following Saturday evening’s UFC 168 main event, former champion Anderson Silva was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital where he underwent surgery to repair a broken left leg. The successful surgery, performed by Dr. Steven Sanders, the UFC’s Orthopedic Surgeon, inserted an intramedullary rod into Anderson’s left tibia. The broken fibula was stabilized and does not require a separate surgery. Anderson will remain in the hospital for a short while, but no additional surgery is scheduled at this time. Recovery time for such injuries may vary between three and six months.

“Anderson is deeply touched by the outpouring of support from his fans and the entire MMA community. There has been no immediate decision about his future, and he would kindly ask for privacy at this time as he deals with his injury and prepares to return home to recover.”

If silva was not fooling around he would have won.go back and watch old fights of anderson silva you twat before he fought in the octagon. Then you will see how long he has been in this game.

Great fighter yes, greatest ever? NOOOOO.And I have been a fan of UFC since the 1st event. I have also seen all Silvas fights even before UFC were he got beat! I completely agree with David. No respect for the game. NONE.

  4. retasketa says:

His fan base will support whatever he does. Although I never want to see him injured this way again. I’ve learned over the years that this a decision that can only be made by the athlete. I wish him a speedy and full recovery

  5. Arjun Chipalkatti says:

whether he comes back or not, he has nothing to prove to be known as the greatest of all time. Anderson is the greatest of my generation and i will be lucky to have seen him compete. He had the charisma of a showman and the precision of a sniper. We will most likely never see another fighter like him inside the cage. If he comes back, let him come back for just a fight, that leg isnt gonna be the same again.

  6. Grant Neethling says:

I guess you must be a new comer to this sport. And I see the your head is still up your ass.we see if weidman will be as successful as silva.

  7. Grant Neethling says:

How can you say he has no respect for the game.not sure who you talking about buddy.Anderson Silva has way to much respect for the sport.its his profession, know how long he has been in this sport and to do what he has done is legendary.
