UFC Planning Six 2014 Events In Europe That Can’t Be Seen In The U.S.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is putting the U.S. Market on the outs next year as part of their European expansion with at least six events made for a Euro-only audience.

The first of which is in the planning stages and according to UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta it will be a major event at London’s O2 Arena.

“It’s going to be a significant event and we’re really excited that we’re going to be here on a consistent basis,” Said Fertitta. “We are going to find some incredibly talented fighters from various countries in this market that someday will probably be a UFC champion.”

The expectations are to build the local European market so that the UFC is putting on approximately 12-16 events per year on over there that will all likely be blacked out in the U.S.

UFC Executive Vice President Garry Cook broke down the expansion plans to FOX:

“I think there’s got to be a little bit more purpose in our European events. You have to be fighting for a reason, for something, and that’s important. We can’t have a tournament, as you well know. It’s very difficult to do that, but we do see the opportunity to create more European champions.”

Outside of our European readers is anyone else the least bit concerned about missing your constant dose of MMA due to a stateside blackout, or are these 35 events enough to keep you happy?
