UFC Opens Office in Brazil
The UFC has made a major impact in the country of Brazil since its return in 2011, and 2014 brings with it new changes to how the UFC will operate there. According to MMAfighting, Grace Tourinho, the UFC’s managing director, announced that the UFC will open its own office in Brazil to run local events more effectively. Initially, the UFC partnered with Brazilian company IMX to run events there, but after two years, the UFC has decided to work on their own.
“Our partnership with IMX was really important for UFC’s sucess and the growth of our activities in Brazil,” Tourinho said. “Today, thinking strategically, it makes sense that we have a local team dedicated to do our business to help (the UFC) to grow.”
IMX does not seem to harbor any resentment at the split, however. IMX CEO Alan Adler seems completely understanding of the UFC’s decision.
“We’re proud we were part of the organization of the UFC events in Brazil, contributing to make the sport more popular and increasing UFC’s brand in the country…With UFC’s office in Brazil and their own team to organize the events, it’s natural that companies will move on and business partnerships come to an end after a positive cycle.”
