UFC on FX 4 | Guida vs. Maynard Set For Headliner

A lightweight bout between two top lightweight fighters has been set for the UFC’s fourth show on FX. Clay Guida and Gray Maynard have verbal agreements in place to face off in the main event of the UFC on FX 4 card.

UFC officials took to their official twitter account to announce the news late yesterday afternoon.

UFC on FX 4 is expected to go down in Atlantic City on June 22, however no official announcement has been made by the promotion and a venue has not been made public. The main event between Guida and Maynard is expected to be a five-round affair.

Guida hasn’t seen action since his UFC on FOX 1 defeat at the hands of newly crowned champion, Benson Henderson. The rabid fan favorite lost his chance at fighting Frankie Edgar with the Henderson loss and snapped a four-fight win streak in the process.

Maynard last saw the inside of a cage at last October’s UFC 136 event where he suffered his first official career defeat at the hands of Frankie Edgar. He has since left his home gym at Xtreme Couture and has sought training across the globe in various gyms including Brazil’s Nova Unaio and San Jose’s AKA.

The winner of this fight will find themselves near the top of a very stacked lightweight division.

I got Maynard puttin’ the beats on Guida. Of course Guida will put up a good fight, and turn this into an entertaining scrap, but I think Maynard takes this

    • Calvin says:

maynard is is turning more and more into koscheck with his decision to not use his wrestling hopefully he uses it and guida has some awesome scrambles and sub attempts by both

saw maynard in santa cruz over thanksgiving and i hope he takes it.
maynard is a down to earth family guy. cool dude. he needs to move to santa cruz and open a gym.

    • Shawn says:

I second that. But only if Maynard works on his cardio. He’s been known to gas, and becomes ineffective when tired. And we all know Guida can take a beating.

Guida is crazy , a good kinda crazy , same kinda crazy as Matt Mitrione .

D-1 all american wrestler vs high school wrestler, gee i wonder who will win? Guida will be so outclassed in every disipline in this fight. Guida needs to take a bath cut that rat and maggot infested MOP off his head and drop to featherweight
