UFC On Fuel TV 8 Results: Okami earns split decision win over Lombard | UFC NEWS
Two rounds of blueprint Yushin Okami led to a big victory Saturday at UFC on Fuel TV 8 in Japan.
Okami won a 29-28, 29-28, 28-28 split decision over Hector Lombard
The victory improves Okami to 30-7.
Sensing desperation, Lombard hurt Okami with some huge punches to the head to start the third round. Lombard stuffed an Okami takedown and ended up in Okami’s half-guard. Lombard was in position to finish the fight but couldn’t muster the energy, thanks in part to Okami’s nice defense.
In the second round, Okami showed nice striking, peppering and frustrating Lombard early. Lombard kept going for broke, working to the inside, but Okami scored another nice takedown midway through the second. Okami’s strong top game neutralized Lombard. Okami mounted Lombard late in the round
Okami stayed clear of Lombard’s explosive striking power in the first round. A takedown late in the round by Okami scored some point but Lombard eventually got things back to the feet.
The loss dropped Lombard to 32-3-1-1 and just 1-2 in the UFC.
Final Result: Yushin Okami def. Hector Lombard via split-decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

I can see why someone would call Okami boring, but that fight was pretty definitive. Lombard definitely had the first round but Okami controlled him for sure the next two. I was shocked by the split decision. I certainly wouldn’t call it controversial.
