UFC on FUEL TV 8 Main Card Live Play-By-Play And Results | UFC NEWS


‘UFC on Fuel TV 8: Silva vs. Stann’ goes down tonight from Japan’s Saitama Super Arena.

In the main event Wanderlei Silva will take on Brian Stann in a featured 205 pound fight.

The main card starts at 10:00 P.M. ET (7:00 P.M. PT) and we here at BJPENN.COM will be running a live play-by-play of all the action for those who didn’t get their tickets in time to make it to Japan or can’t watch the live telecast.

SIYAR BAHADURZADA VS. DONG HYUN KIM

Round 1

The bell rings, Bahadurzada is fighting out of the blue corner in white shorts and Kim is out of the red corner in grey shorts. Lots of feeling out by both fighters, Kim has thrown a couple high kicks. Kim attempts a take-down, but Bahadurzada is able to escape. Kim lands a high kick, but Bahadurzada is able to catch the leg and drops Kim. He backs off and lets Kim up. Kim lands a nice left jab, and then shoots for the take-down  After working for the downstate Kim is able to finally land a single leg, and quickly moves to full mount. Kim is constantly working and throwing elbows to the top of Bahadurzada’s head. Kim lands a huge elbow across the face of Bahadurzada, forces him to give up his back. Kim is now in full back mount as Bahadurzada stands up, and the round ends.

Round 2

The round begins and a mouse has developed over the top of Kim’s right eye. It is obvious where Kim wants this fight as he feels out the beginning of the round and then shoots in for a take-down. Relentless with the attempt finally gets Bahadurzada to the ground. Kim works a little ground and pound, and moves to side control. Kim attempts to trap Bahadurzada’s right arm, but is unsuccessful as Bahadurzada gives up his back to try to get back to his feet. Kim stays on top of him, and after a quick scramble he ends back on top and in full mount. Kim is landing a lot of elbows and is just out classing Bahadurzada on the ground. The round ends with Kim dropping to big left hands to the head of Bahadurzada.

Round 3

Kim takes the center of the octagon at the start of the round, and wastes no time shooting in for the take-down and gets Bahadurzada to the ground. Kim quickly moves to full mount and works some elbows to the head of Bahadurzada. Kim attempts an arm choke, Bahadurzada is able to defend it well. Kim let’s go of the choke and decides to focus on ground and pound. Landing vicious elbows and punches at a ferocious pace. Kim starts playing to the crowd and starts throwing double hammer fists. After a quick scramble Kim maintains top position. Kim stands up as Bahadurzada throws a few up kicks as the round ends. A dominate performance by Kim.

Official Decision: All three judges score it 30-27 for a Unanimous Decision victory for DONG HYUN KIM

 

MIZUTO HIROTA VS. RANI YAHYA

Round 1

Fighting out of the blue corner and wearing black shorts is Rahni Yahya, and out of the red corner and wearing white shorts is Mizuto Hirota. Both men walk to the center of the octagon as Yahya waves off Hirota’s attempted glove tap. Yahya lands a nice right cross, but Hirota seems unfazed by it. Yahya shoots in for the take-down and finishes it. He starts to attack the arm of Hirota, but loses his grip. Hirota ends up on top, but it is short-lived as Yahya is able to sweep him and take top position. Yahya lands a few elbows and punches, Hirota scrambles to his feet. Yahya stays on top of him and drags him back to the ground, dropping punches to the head and body. He starts to attack Hirota’s left arm with a Kimura, to escape the attempt Hirota gives up his back and the round ends.

Round 2

Again both men move to the center of the octagon, Yahya throws a right cross that Hirota ducks. Hirota moves and clinches up with Yahya pushing him against the cage. Hirota backs up and throws a nice combination. Yahya changes levels and takes Hirota down. Using punches Yahya sets up an arm choke submission. He is unable to get a good angle to finish the submission and moves back to mount. Hirota is able to get it back to full guard. Yahya is able to control the position and works the ground and pound as the round ends.

Round 3

Hirota still looks fresh as the round begins coming out quickly and taking the center of the octagon as Yahya looks to be a little tired. Yahya moves in for a take-down and Hirota is able to shrug it off. His take-down attempts are not as fast as they were in the first two rounds as Horota is able to defend them much easier here in the third. Even if tired Yahya does not give up on his take-down attempts and finally is able to get Hirota to the ground. It is not long until Hirota is able to get back to his feet, you can now see that Yahya is really gassed. Hirota takes advantage of this by throwing punches that hit their mark, Yahya shoots for the take-down. Hirota uses Yahya’s take-down attempt and turns it into a triangle choke attempt. Yahya is able to get both arms in defending against the choke, but Hirota turns it into a arm-bar submission. Yahya rolls out of the attempt, and they scramble back to their feet. They clinch up against the cage and the round comes to an end. Yahya collapses to the ground after the bell rings from exhaustion.

Official Decision: All three judges score it 29-28 for a Unanimous Decision for RANI YAHYA

HECTOR LOMBARD VS. YUSHIN OKAMI

Round 1

Hector Lombard is fighting out of the blue corner wearing grey shorts, and Yushin Okami is out of the red corner in red shorts. Lombard coming out in this fight very aggressive, moving forward and pushing the pace of the fight. Lombard lands a nice inside leg kick, but Okami uses it to take him down. They scramble back to their feet. Okami lands a nice leg kick to the body of Lombard. He is trying to keep the distance from Lombard with the leg kicks. Lombard lands a couple of right hands to the head of Okami. Lombard still being aggressive rushes in but Okami uses that aggressiveness to take him down. Okami pushes Lombard up against the cage and throws some punches. Lombard gets and under hook and uses it to get back to his feet. Okami keeps it in the clinch throwing some knees to the body of Lombard. The round ends with them clinched up against the cage.

Round 2

Lombard still being very aggressive rushes to the center of the octagon as the round begins. Okami lands a nice knee to the body of Lombard. He is able to keep a good distance between himself and Lombard, with jabs and excellent footwork. Lombard seems to looking just the big shot, and finds it with a big upper cut. Okami is able to secure a single leg take-down, moves into half guard and starts throwing punches to the head and body of Lombard. With 45 seconds left in the round Okami moves into full mount position. He postures up and throws a fierce elbow that just misses. The round ends with Okami throwing a punch to the head of Lombard.

Round 3

Lombard comes out with a sense of urgency throwing big punches as the round begins. One of the punches lands and Okami is hurt, his legs are wobbly. Lombard moves in and lands a right cross that stuns Okami even more.  Okami is able to create some distance but Lombard staying aggressive continues to push forward. Okami tries for a take-down, but Lombard defends and ends up on top on the ground. They get back to their feet and both men are noticeably gassed. With a minute left the fight goes back to the ground with Lombard on top. Lombard is trying his best to posture up but good guard defense by Okami prevents him from doing much of anything with the position. The round ends with Lombard on top of Okami in full guard.

Official Decision: Judges score it 28-29, 29-28, & 29-28 for a Split Decision for YUSHIN OKAMI

TAKANORI GOMI VS. DIEGO SANCHEZ

Round 1

Fighting out of the blue corner and wearing blue shorts is Diego Sanchez, and Takanori Gomi is wearing white shorts and fighting out of the red corner. Sanchez rushes to the center of the octagon ignoring Gomi’s glove tap attempt. Sanchez feints a knee and Gomi lands a straight right hand. A lot of dancing around the ring with very little action happening between the two fighters. Sanchez lands a nice right hand, and follows it up by taking Gomi down to the ground. He throws another right hand, but misses and Gomi is able to push Sanchez back to stand back up. Sanchez lands a nice head-body combination. Gomi lands a big knee, but Sanchez pushes through and takes him down and attempts a knee bar submission. Gomi is able to defend against it and lands a couple of right hands to force Sanchez to let it go. They stand back up and circle the ring trading punches. Gomi throws a head kick that Sanchez catches and pushes Gomi to the ground as the round ends.

Round 2

The round begins and Gomi is starting to find his groove and distance with his boxing. He is landing some nice left hooks to the head and stiff body punches. Sanchez attempts a take-down, but Gomi defends against it. Sanchez then throws a kick that hits Gomi in the groin, the ref halts the fight and warns Sanchez that a point will be deducted if it happens again. Gomi is starting to win the exchanges now using a good mixture of leg kicks and punches to keep Sanchez off-balance. You can hear Greg Jackson calling for Sanchez to take Gomi down, but it falls on deaf ears. Sanchez does land a couple of nice kicks to the body, and a counter punch that backs Gomi off. Sanchez attempts a flying knee but Gomi avoids it easily. The round ends as Sanchez looks to becoming more aggressive.

Round 3

Sanchez, like he has in every fight, rushes to the center of the octagon as the final round begins. Gomi though looks to be in a nice rhythm as he lands a couple of stiff jabs to back Sanchez off a little bit. He is switching his stances constantly, and it looks like that is starting to really confuse Sanchez. It is very odd to see Sanchez backing up so much, but the pressure of Gomi is really aggressive. Sanchez attempts a take-down, but Gomi sprawls defending against it nicely. Gomi continues to land combinations to the body and head. Both fighters attempt a leg kick at the same time that drops Sanchez. The ten second warning sounds and Sanchez starts to unleash a flurry of punches. Gomi circles out as the round ends.

Official Decision: The judges score it 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28 for a Split Decision for Diego Sanchez

MARK HUNT VS. STEFAN STRUVE

Round 1

Stefan Struve fights out of the blue corner wearing blue shorts, and Mark Hunt is out of the red corner wearing red shorts. For the first time tonight the fighters touch gloves to begin the fight. Hun lands a hard leg kick, and then follows it up with a body-head combination. Struve being very passive as Hunt continues to pepper the body with punches from the outside. Hunt clinches up with Struve, and Struve pulls guard and uses a butterfly sweep to gain top control. Struve looks for an arm choke, but gains full mount and lands some big punches to the head of Hunt. Struve rolls for an arm-bar submission, but Hunt defends well and ends up on top. He starts to work the ground and pound landing a big right hand. The round ends with Hunt on top in side control.

Round 2

The round begins with Struve eating two big punches to the head by Hunt. Starting to look real comfortable in there, Hunt is starting to throw big punches. Struve starts to counter with some stiff jabs, but Hunt is really relentless with his boxing. Struve is just standing still as Hunt moves forward and lands a big right hand that Struve then counters with a right hand of his own. Hunt clinches up with Struve and takes him down, an interesting move considering he is winning the stand-up battle. Struve attempts a knee bar that Hunt rolls out of and moves to side control. They stand up and Struve pulls Hunt to the ground and gets the full mount. He starts to rain down punches and then attempts an arm-bar but loses the arm. The round ends with Hunt in top position landing a couple of elbows.

Round 3

Both fighters are exhausted as the third round begins. Hunt lands a big left hand that hurts Struve, but can’t follow up because of how tired he is. Hunt continues to look for the big shot for the KO, all of his punches have bad intentions. Struve lands a head kick that Hunt brushes off, and moves forward landing a big right hand that stuns Struve. Hunt comes forward throws a right hand that lands, and follows up with a huge left cross that drops Struve. Hunt walks away thinking the fight is over, referee Herb Dean channels Mortal Kombat and basically tells Hunt to finish him and then with better judgement calls for the end of the fight.

Official Decision: TKO in the 3rd Round for MARK HUNT

WANDERLEI SILVA VS. BRIAN STANN

Round 1

Wanderlei Silva fights out of the red corner wearing grey shorts, and Brian Stann fights out of the blue corner while wearing blue shorts. The bell rings, fighters touch gloves, and start to circle the cage. Silva gets pushed up against the cage and both men unleash a flurry of punches. Stann slips as Silva lands a right hand, and then clinches with Stann and lands a big knee. They move back to middle of the octagon, and once again stand toe-to-toe throwing big punches. Stann lands a big punch that wobbles Silva, he goes in to clinch to recoup. Silva gets back to his feet and Stann pushes him towards the cage. Stann attempts a knee but his foot hits Silva in the groin and the fight is stopped. The fight resumes and they circle the octagon, they stop and start trading shots again. Silva lands a big punch that drops Stann, but he gets right back up and they continue to trade punches. Can’t question Silva’s chin now he is taking big punches and still standing, the round ends with Stann taking Silva to the ground.

Round 2

The round begins and both men have already lost a step. Blood is now pouring out of a cut that has opened up on the bridge Stann’s nose. They start to circle and Stann hits Silva with a big left hand that wobbles Silva. They move back to the center and Stann throws a nice leg kick. The fight is stopped again as Stann throws an inside leg kick that hits Silva in the groin. The fight resumes with Silva trying to establish his jab. Silva lands a glancing high head kick, as Stann continues to circle Silva. The action has really slowed from the first round as they continue to circle each other. Silva leaps in with a big right left combo to the head of Stann, and it drops him. Stann is really hurt as he covers up and Silva moves in and lands two big right hands and Stann is out cold!

Official Decision: KO 2nd Round for WANDERLEI SILVA
