UFC on FOX 9’s Matt Brown Will Fight Both GSP and Hendricks ‘At Once’
At the UFC on FOX 9 press conference Thursday, top-ten welterweight fighter Matt Brown (right) talked confidently about where he sits in the 170-lbs. divison. In his eyes, he can fight both top guys in the division, champion Georges St-Pierre and top-contender Johny Hendricks, and he’s willing to fight them at the same time.

UFC welterweight fighter, Matt Brown (18-11), has ridden a six-fight win streak to one of the most stacked weight division’s top ten title contenders. That momentum has also earned him an upcoming shot at the number 2 contender and former UFC welterweight interim champion, Carlos Condit, at UFC on FOX 9 in December.
At the press conference for the UFC on FOX 9 event Thursday, Brown talked confidently about his spot at 170 lbs.
“He’s ranked number two,” he said of his opponent, “so if I beat him, I should be ranked number one, right? Or at least number two. So, absolutely, no question about it. I think [I’m close to a title shot], I don’t know who else is in the division.”
Certainly a win over such a high-ranked contender as Condit would cement his place among the top contenders for the 170-lb. belt. Of course, with someone like Robbie Lawler making a similar climb through the UFC’s welterweight division facing the 3rd-ranked contender in Rory MacDonald next month, Brown may have one or two more fights before a title shot.
Of course, that won’t phase his confidence.
“Both of them,” Brown responded to the question of who he would prefer to face between GSP and Hendricks. “I’ll fight them both at once.”
As I said, it will take more than another fight to even scratch Brown’s confidence.
