UFC ON FOX 8 RESULTS: Liz Carmouche Runs Through Jessica Andrade With 2nd Round TKO Victory
| The women kicked off the action on the main card and they brought the heat!
Carmouche is coming off of her title fight loss to Ronda Rousey back in February and she came out looking like she was on a mission with everything in the world to prove. Her strength and wrestling were put on full display as she came out and controlled the first half of the opening round with octagon control, clinching against the cage and landing close strikes that seemed to be shaking up Andrade. Then Andrade scored her own takedown later in the round but could not hold Liz down.
When Liz came up to her feet Andrade locked onto a guillotine choke and the round ended there. For a second it seemed like she might have had Liz in some trouble but the second round was ALL Carmouche.
Liz came out and again applied lots of pressure on Andrade, scored another huge takedown/slam and worked her way through the guard of Andrade until she was in full mount. From there Carmouche did whatever she really wanted too. She landed big strikes and elbows, she took the back of Andrade and almost scored a submission victory as she locked onto a rear-naked choke, and then eventaully went back to the mount and pounded out Andrade until Herb Dean stepped in and stopped the bout at 3:57 seconds of the 2nd round.
Liz Carmouche defeats Jessica Andrade via TKO at 3:57 of the 2nd Round
Liz Carmouche came out and proved why she was worthy of her previous title fight with Rousey and placed herself back on that track toward another crack at the belt with this overly impressive, dominant performance over Andrade. Her full skills were on full display and it was apparent that Carmouche is getting better at every aspect of the fight game. It will be interesting to see what the UFC decides to give Carmouche in her next bout. Stay glued to BJPenn.com for all the updates.
