UFC on FOX 7: Bendo vs. Melendez: Champion vs. Champion Likely As Main Feature | UFC NEWS
A champion vs. champion bout appears to be in the future for the ZUFFA owned lightweight kings.
Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez is UFC bound and the top dog in the Octagon, Benson Henderson, is ready to defend his title and unify the belts.
Fresh off of his new deal with the UFC, Benson Henderson said he wanted a fight with Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, and it appears as if he will get his wish this April.
The fight is tentatively scheduled for UFC on fox 7, which will be held in Melendez’s home town of San Jose, California on April 20th at the HP Pavilion.
Though not official, with both champions determined on a future showdown, we expect to report the finalization of bout agreements in the near future.

If Edgar was champ it would never happen but nobody likes bendo and boy are they trying to get people too. Who else they putting on two straight fox cards free to public. This is prolly the only guy that people are hoping Melendez can dethrone being the most boring and unknown champ out there. It’s prolly his arrogance or no class nature he has maybe its from being Korean but man does he lower the bar wen it comes to a champ. Yes I see him winning because Gil’s overrated but only if this gym rat continues to use most boring fighter Alive. He’s actually a really good well rounded fighter and your opinion sounds a wee bit racially biased, people love bj penn and hes part korean so i doubt thats why they dislike him but i agree he is arrogant but im guessing people dislike him because they were balls deep they couldnt see how overrated edgar truely is. btw jon jones already lowered the bar pretty far..

Melendez aint beatin no one, he sucks balls, he shouldnt even be champion of strikeforce as he lost to thomson, he will get owned in the ufc, this aint strikeforce bitch. When pat healy is meant to be fighting for the title u know that division is terrible
