UFC Offered Rampage Coaching Slot Opposite Sonnen Before Jones Booking | UFC NEWS
According to a report on MMAFighting.com, UFC President Dana White as well as former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rampage Jackson both confirmed that Jackson turned down the TUF coaching gig opposite Chael Sonnen prior to the Jones booking.
The currently anti-UFC “Rampage” Jackson had this to say on the matter:
“Forget TUF. I’m not interested in that. I don’t want to fight Chael. He’s the kind of fighter that I don’t want to fight. He’s a boring fighter that just wants to hump people.”

You say KO in round 1 that’s laughable. You should stick to sniffing glue. Sonnen has 1 legit tko loss on his record and that’s to the greatest knees in the sport anderson silva. Jones may win but TKO in the first isn’t the answer I will come on this site and write a 2000 word essay about how great you are if I’m wrong. Sonnen has a solid chin if you want him out you better be the spider or have sub skills.
I understand where Jackson is coming from.. Nobody wants to fight a Sonnen or Maia kind of fighter. They do nothing but try to lay on you to win rounds rather than finish a fight. They may get a submission or something, but go back to your jujitsu and Wrestling tournaments you don’t belong in the UFC if you can’t stand up and fight as well as go to the ground.

maia and lay n prayers are far different. but i still get ur point, because they both just want ground fights. i say give rampage glover. its a serious stand up fight. glovers got good takedowns, but not good enough to get page down. if page wins im sure the ufc will renew his contract because everyone of the haters will say “rampage is back.” hopefully shogun and page both win there next fights. page better not retire before that rematch.
I dont agree with dana on much but i will say this. It is called MIXED martial arts for a reason. If you dont like lay and pray if you dont like being “HUMPED”. Stuff the take down work on getting up when your in a bad spot. I just dont get it. iv heard herb dean say on the ultimate fighter.. when ur on the ground the fighter on top must always be trying to finish the fight.. only a few fighters actually try to finish the fight.. its annoying to watch sometimes.. but a ground fight is just as good as a stand up fight.

Nothing wrong with a good ACTIVE groundfight. Going for submissions and GnP is not boring to watch. Holding your opponent down just to avoid him getting up and beat your ass up is definitely boring. It’s also avoiding the fight, so can’t be called a fighting style either.
Referees have to be aware of the inactivity and stand the leghumpers up way sooner.
