UFC NEWS – UFC on FUEL TV 2 Adds Three More Bouts Including Stann vs. Sakara

Three more fights have been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 2 card set for April.
First up on the list is a middleweight fight between Brian Stann and Alessio Sakara which will likely serve as the evenings headlining bout.
The other two bouts added to the April fight card are light-heavyweights Cyrille Diabate and Jorgen Kruth as well as a welterweight bout between Besam Yousef and Simeon Thoresen.
UFC on FUEL TV 2 is now officially set to take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on April 14th.
The card is still in the works and the only bouts currently confirmed for the event are DeMarques Johnson vs. John Maquire, Papy Abedi vs. James Head, Magnus Cedenblad vs. Francis Carmont and the aforementioned Cyrille Diabate vs. Jorgen Kruth, Besam Yousef vs. Simeon Thoresen as well as the Stann vs. Sakara fight expected to headline fight night.
Both Stann and Sakara look to bounce back from recent setbacks.
Stann last saw action at UFC 136 when he faced Chael Sonnen in a number-one contender match that he lost via submission quickly in the first round. Prior to defeat the Team Jackson fighter had a string of success with three consecutive wins over Mike Massenzio, Chris Leben and Jorge Santiago.
Sakara also had a recent fall from grace when he faced Chris Weidman after a year layoff at the UFC on Versus 3 card and suffered a decision loss. The defeat snapped a three-fight win streak that included wins over Joe Vedepo, Thales Leites and James Irvin.
Diabate has had mixed results since entering the UFC. He entered the promotion with a dominant win at UFC 114 over Luiz Cane but then went up against Alexander Gustafsson and got submitted in the second frame of action. He was able to bounce back against Steve Cantwell with a decision but most recently dropped his latest contest to Anthony Perosh via decision at UFC 138.
Stepping in against Diabate will be UFC newcomer and Swedish resident Jorgen Kruth. He is an undefeated Mixed Martial Artists who has finished all of his five pro MMA bouts with first round stoppages. He also notably holds a 71-14 pro kickboxing record.
In the third matchup of this announcement, Besam Yousef meets Simeon Thoresen in a welterweight matchup.
Yousef will enjoy home field advantage in his Octagon debut. After turning pro in 2008 he is currently riding a six-fight win streak boasting five stoppages in the process. He is the current ZONE FC champ and a staple of the Swedish regional scene.
Thoresen has been able to string together 16 wins since turning pro in 2006. The Norwegian based fighter is a submission grappler who rides a 7-1-1 record heading into his UFC debut. Additionally, 14 of his 16 career wins have ended via submission.

Big fann of Stann, hope he attains no 3 ranking as a mw! Stann FTW!
head got sub. in the 2nd
#3 ranking in MW? Are you kidding me? 1. Silva, 2. Sonnen, 3. Belfort, 4. Munoz, 5. Bisping… He’s not top 5 in my book.
I have Okami and Maia before Stann. He’s 8 in my book. Haha you said it: “Are you kidding me?”
WAR Simeon Thoresen
Dumbfk.. What don’t u understand: hope ..he attains #3 mw!
stans not 3 but hes in my top 5 cause he got nice power and will trade
Just bc you’re a big fan of Stann does not nulify the ass beating Chael Sonnen gave to him and allows him to keep his #3 spot. I like Stann too, but you can hope all you want but I’m with Adrian, he’s at best top 8.
Ummm Pedro, Stann lost to Sonnen via submission 2nd round, not first!
This is what main events are becoming? Two guys coming off loses. Good thing it’s free. Although I do recall Dana saying they were gunna do it big on fox with big main events. So full of shit dana fag white
Nevermid it’s fuel what do you expect
Stann is an excellent fighter and a good guy, but I have him at about #7 in the division.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-WO87m2Y3M <—- Put Anton Kuivanen to that card ! Very talented mixed martial artist from Finland.
yea 7 or 8 would be right stann can stand and bang with anyone but his wrestling is bad and his ground game and cardio isnt all that good but hes a decent fighter
Hope Stann come back strong in this one, needs to work on some TDD and sub defense, im sure he has after the sonnen fight
Until Fuel becomes more widely available, I think this is a bad idea. Unless they’re planning on making the telecast available over the Web, as well, say via Facebook. But I guess it’s one way to drive people to UFC.TV. Thus turning a “free” fight card into a pay-per-view.
Stann did not lose quickly in the first round. It was a second round arm triangle submission. Good writing there author. Good luck on that Pulitzer chase. There’s a chance.
