UFC NEWS | UFC on FOX 2 | Bedford vs. Gagnon Scratched, Beltran vs. Johnson Promoted To FUEL TV Card
A last minute change has been made to this weekend’s UFC on FOX 2 card.
Johnny Bedford was originally scheduled to face off with Mitch Gagnon on Saturdays preliminary card scheduled for a FUEL TV broadcast. However for undisclosed reasons, Gagnon was unable to enter the U.S. to work and the bout has subsequently been cancelled.
With the open space on the FUEL TV prelims, Joey Beltran vs. Lavar Johnson has been promoted from the facebook.com streaming prelims to the televised broadcast.
With Beltran and Johnson promoted to the televised portion of the preliminary card on FUEL TV it leaves just a single bout available on facebook.com.
UFC on FOX 2 is set to take place on Saturday, January 27 from The United Center. In the main event, Phil Davis will square off with Rashad Evans for the number one contender seat in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division ruled over by Jon Jones. The co-feature of the evening is a middleweight number one contender bout between Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen. The televised main card is available for free on FOX and the preliminary portion is set for FUEL.
No word on whether or not Bedford vs. Gagnon is set to go down at a later date or if the bout has been scrapped entirely.
According to UFC officials Bedford will still get paid his contractual wage.
