UFC NEWS – UFC Officialy Announces Return To Australia For UFC on FX 2

UFC officials have officially announced their UFC on FX 2 fight card set for March 3.

As expected, the free on TV fight card is set to go down in Australia.

UFC on FX 2 is set to feature a main event welterweight bout between Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves. The Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia will play host to the fight card on March 3 of 2012 and will also feature the opening round of the UFCā€™s flyweight title eliminator tournament.

Kampmann was last seen in action defeating Rick Story at UFC 139 this past weekend. It was a much needed win after the long-time UFC resident dropped his two previous bouts to Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez via controversial decisions.

For Alves, the one-time title challenger found himself on a 1-3 skid recently but was able to bounce back from his less than perfect Octagon luck and take out Papy Abedi earlier this month at UFC 138 by submission.

Not the best main event. I’ll mainly watch the flyweight tournament.

Definatley wont be paying the big bucks to go to this one!!!! Hey Dana, how about paying Australia back with a major fight?? considering we had lightning sell outs both times you came down under!! i wouldnt even say there is a main event on that card, no offense but kampman vs alves hardly gets me pump to pay up to sit live!!! What do we have to do to get a title fight in Sydney???????????? i went to watch 127 and we got one round of action from penn and fitch then fitch done his usual lay on him and be boring for the other 2 rounds, GIVE US SOME BIG NAME ACTION PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so true alves v kampman is a good fight but it is not main event worthy and the flyweight tornament is not a draw in itself. i told myself that i was going to the next card in australia for sure after ufc 127 but now i dont know. japan gets a stacked card and we get the shit. also the aussie fighers are not even fighting such as george sotoropolis and mark hunt n i dont think kyle noke is ready either. and isnt forest griffen ment to be fighting james tahuna on the card aswell?

  4. Trent Nathan says:

Man, they make the announcement and ticket sales go on the worst time of the year. I don’t really know why the ticket prices for FX is the same as a PPV. Maybe the lineup will improve as the date goes near but I will be sitting out on this one. I love UFC and all but their international marketing fcuked up on this one. At least announce a PPV event for us in 2012 and then bring on the house shows like FX, FN etc. All the big draw names had fought or are injured so there aren’t that many on the roster to gain interest. Unlikely to see Forest fight anywhere outside Vegas he already said he hates fighting out of his home turf.

Let’s hope that the undercards will have some big names or interesting matchups! Not too excited about this event.

  6. Aussie Adz says:

I went to 127 paid 400 a ticket and didnt mind to see the likes of penn and Bisping plus the Aussie’s george sotoropolis, mark hunt an co, But there is no way i would pay 400 a ticket for this card dont know that ill watch any of the fights except kampman and alves and i agree its not main event worthy!! C’mon Dana send a title fight our way, we gave you super fast sellouts and this will probly be the same dont you think we have earned it????

  7. Mike says:

Thats the problem, we sold it out too quick… so Dana is doing what he does at UK and Germany, putting a not so good card (everyone will buy anyways) maybe a good idea no-ones buys this so Dana and the UFC know we only want the good stuff or we wont show. I might go for the atomospher but wont be paying big $, maybe just Gold seats or even less.. Be Free on TV anyways

Give us a title fight Dana.. ppl will pay the Big $ like vegas for a title fight!
