UFC NEWS – UFC Officials Cancel UFC 145 In Montreal Due To Lack Of Star Power Available
UFC officials have officially cancelled their UFC 145 event set for Montreal this March. The shuffle leaves some fighters having to shift their schedules and wait for a new date for already booked bouts.
Che Mills vs. Rory MacDonald, Ben Rothwell vs. Brendan Schaub, Mark Bocek vs. Matt Wiman, Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin, Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs, Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero and Chris Clements vs. Keith Wisniewski where all expected to make an appearance, however due to the lack of a main event these fighters will now seek a home elsewhere.
With major headliners like Brock Lesnar and BJ Penn on hiatus and champions such as Georges St. Pierre, Junior Dos Santos and Anderson Silva on the mend from injury the UFC’s star power is surprisingly weak at the moment and they did not feel comfortable going on with the show as planned without a major headlining act.
When the seven-bouts already made official for the now cancelled event get rebooked we will post an update.

Should have done the same with Australia!! Postponed it till they could put together a decent card, instead of giving us a sub par show. Glad I’m headed to UFC Japan the week beforehand.

Yeh man. the england card was whack 2! they better have something more impressive than leben vs munoz (which could have actually been good) next time they come back here. this was between events that had bj v condit co headlining diaz v gsp (planned as this anyway) and w.silva v cung le co headlining hendo v shogun. i would have killed for any of those fights!
They might be spreading themselves too thin. What did they do 12 events last year? 18 might just be too much for 2012. But at least their fighters have more chances to get paid.
They had some stars In the making. Lol I like Travis Brown and Brenden Shaub. Brenden will have to wait till later to retire over the hill Ben Rothwell.
On a serious note they should allow female competitors in in the UFC to help with influx of UFC events and maybe promote up and comers a little more rather than promoting only their Champs. Though it might come off as favoritism. The Champs can’t fight on every card. Or absorb all of Strikeforce already. It’s gonna happen someday.

The total this year is in the 30′s. I think it’s 32 but I’m not 100%, I can’t afford 2 ppv’s a month and I don’t know many other people who can either. Dana said that he wants to offer as many free shows as PPV so thats why it’s increased.
I can’t afford it either brotha and I don’t like watching the fights illegally either. We’ll make it man! Sniff sniff….. =(

Barboza would kill Nate but I would pay to watch. Unfortunately they have no drawing power on the main card.
After Barboza’s last KO, I think many Diaz haters would pay to see it.
I would not mind if that fight was the main event.
barboza has nice kicks but lets not get ahead of ourselves terry etim was doing well against barboza until halfway through the third when barboza landed that head kick. if he didnt get the ko it could have easily went either way. i dont think i need to add any more to this but just in case i do, etim has not done well vs top fighters and was holding his own v barboza, nate diaz would outbox the crap out of barboza every kick will be countered with a straight down the pipe testing barbozas chin.
I was impressed with Etim in his fight before Barboza vs Etim. Etim looked tentative in this fight and Barboza had too much power for Etim. He has 4X the power of Nate Diaz. I don’t see Nate controlling Barboza especially since a half asleep Cerrone consistently was knocking him over with leg sweeps.
if barboza is the one setting the pace he can very well beat nate with leg kicks but like we saw with the cowboy, its hard to throw leg kicks when someone is coming forward towards you punching you in the face. i got boxing over kickboxing and think nate would break barboza down mentally after getting hit in the face 400 times.

In another year or two Rory Mac will be headling a main event, us Canadians especially on the west coast always get lame sauce cards as does the UK its bullshit! With all the divisions we have in the ufc there should be a title fight every freakin card without question,the ufc is starting to spread itself out way to thin. Remember Dana quality not quantity your starting to saturate everything, and know look whats happened 45,000 plus in Montreal to having to cancel a scheduled event…..shame on you!

UFC pay-per views are becoming what Dana has ripped on boxing about for years.,, one or two good fights and the rest of the card filled with fights nobody really cares about…. sad to see.
