UFC NEWS – UFC Ends Relationship With SPIKE TV With 1.8 Million Viewers Tuning Into To The UFC 141 Prelims Special

An era is over, but it went out with a bang.

The UFC 141 Preliminary card special on SPIKETV which aired live last Friday marked the last live UFC program to air on the cable network.

With the New Year, comes the new FOX deal and the UFC now moves to a host of new FOX affiliate networks, leaving SPIKE TV in their dust.

Still, the very last airing of UFC content, UFC 141 Prelims Special, cashed in on an astonishing 1.8 million viewers. The result marks the second highest watch prelims show on the network in UFC/Spike TV history.

The one-hour special featured Ross Pearson vs. Junior Assuncao and Danny Castillo vs. Anthony Njokuani. The show was the 26th Preliminary card to air live and free on SPIKE TV.

  1. johnyfz450 says:

that sucks spike tv is the mans network oh well as long as they still air them somewhere oh and first comment oh yea :)

  2. mmaislandjunkie says:

spike was stupid not to do more to secure a deal with the ufc.

    • Ninja Oreo Dollop says:

Spike doesn’t carry as much viewers or money as Fox. Spike would never have been able to match Fox in a bid. Also Fox is more in line with Dana’s plans to make the UFC more mainstreamed.

I am pissed that they are trying to force us to buy the Fuel Network. I think this deal could backfire on them if it divides their audience too much between haves and have nots.

  3. dummyman says:

I’m having to switch to satalite tv because my cable company doesn’t offer Fuel! Sucks.

  4. Long-Strong says:

yeah… sucks that Spike failed to grow as the UFC expanded… business is business!

  5. The natural says:

Why man why I’m not getting feul tv.. I rather not watch my favorite sport and I guess just go on comp too find out what happened sucks oh well and I thought they were trying to be more mainstream not sign a deal with a network that nobody has only hard core fans are goin to switch or pay for an extra channel

  6. DSQD says:

We are only able to watch PPV events in Newzealand. We dont have fox, spike or fuel, I hope more ufc is televised here when the sport is more mainstream.

  7. James Wolfe says:

This really sucks, big time. My cable channel here in Canada does not carry Fuel TV…I paid for Spike just for the UFC…man does this suck!

  8. JB Spencer says:

Dont get me started on this fuel tv bs. I think we should all boycott fuel tv and nobody pay for it.

Im gona be payin $55 to watch a ppv and i cant even watch the ‘free’ prelims unless i pay an extra 10 er 15 bucks. And yeah i know i can watch it online, but its the principle of the whole thing.

  9. Xaninho says:

Makes absolutely no difference for me. Here in the Netherlands if we want to watch mma we have to resort to downloading anyway..

I wish it would be possible to order though, cause watching it live is way more fun than waiting till the next day and avoiding foreign friends, facebook and bjpenn.com in case there are results mentioned…..
