UFC NEWS – UFC 142 Results: Belfort Chokes Out Johnson, Aldo Stops Mendes – Brazil Goes 9-1 For The Night
UFC 142 went down tonight from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. In the main event featherweight weight champion Jose Aldo put his belt on the line against the undefeated Team Alpha Male product, Chad Mendes and with one second left in the first round knocked out the Sacramento resident to retain his title.
In the co-main event, Vitor Belfort earned his moniker, “The Phenom” and took the fight straight to Anthony Johnson. Winning the fight on the feet and taking his opponent out on the ground with an eventual rear naked choke to win the contest in the first frame of action.
Overall Brazil went 9-1 on the night.

I am not a fan of Vitor Belfort, but I hope he wins by 1st round KO just because of AJ’s inability to make weight. Funny how a guy who fights at 170 shows up to a fight at 185 weighing in at 204.5. Ridiculous.

I agree. AJ weighs more than Fedor who is a heavyweight when they both arent fighting. AJ needs to move up to light heavy weight. Not only to gain some respect and professionalism but also for his health. He always has Drs around him come weigh in day.
Weight doesnt make a difference in all cases. Vitor has fought much heavier and destroyed them in the proccess
Rumble was advices to take on fluids as he was in danger of doing serious illness to his organs( by the UFC doctor) so he did and weighted in at 197, he was I pound of 186 when told to do this. In regards to the comment of fight people your own seize all fighters cut weight to fight except heavyweights and maybe Edgar but most fighters walk around about 25-30 pounds heavier than the weight class they fight in. Vitor will weigh in about 205 come fight night. In saying that if is poor form to miss weight but it was on doctors orders, I just hope it turns out to be the fight we where all looking forward to.

yeah he was robbed, but i cant blame yamasaki.. ufc should have some sort of process in place where the ref should have an option to look at instant replays before making such judgement.. when I was watching this fight, I was had the impression that the shots were to the back of the head even though Rogan was saying it was legal… After looking at the replays, I could clearly see that there was only 1 shot to the back of the head at the very end of the barrage… and im watching this fight online… i dont blame yamasaki

Jose is in a league of his own at 145! Him and Frankie Edgar would be a great fight at 145, I don’t see anyone else at 145 having a legit shot. I want to see Vitor in a #1 contendor match with the winner of Bisping v Maia since he’s better than both of them.
Why 145? Edgar is naturally 155 & if Aldo can make 145 he can make 155 (he’s not rumble lol).
Aldo said he’ll move up eventually, I just mean that Frankie is the only guy that I believe can actually challenge Jose at 145. The rest of the 145ers aren’t in Jose’ league so it doesn’t make sense to put him up against inferior competition. Edgar walks at 155-160 so the ideal weight class for him is 145 but why move down in weight when your at the top of the heap in your current class. I think this fight will end up happening because the UFC is running out of legit challengers for Aldo. Hioki is supposed to be the #2 guy in the world but theres no way he’d have a chance against Jose. I want to see legit challenges for all the UFC champs but Jose is just way too good for anyone in his division.

Damn Vitor is the man! I wasn’t sure who was going to to win but Rumble got outclassed. He was having problems hitting Vitor while he was on his back. I am really unsure why the ref kept having them stand up but whatever I wanted Vitor to win and Jose so I am happy. Jose deserves one of the many KO of he night awards Dana gives out. That knee was so fast and Chad was so tentative after receiving those leg kicks.

Some people are dumb aj weighed in at 191 not 205 at the official weigh in… Before the fight he was 211 vitor was 205. Aj just needs to learn to cut properly…. He does NOT weigh more then fedor like someone said… Also gsp and “the PitBull” both weigh around 200+ and they cut to 170… Besides Frankie Edgar not many fighters fight anywhere near what they weigh

He was just laying on Vitor and wasn’t doing any damage.
They were punishing AJ more missing weight by so much, everytime it looked like he was slowing down and not doing damage they would stand them up, they were making sure he couldn’t get any rest at all.
